Suzuki just got a 2 RBI single for the Braves.  He had an okay year.  Was he another player they misjudged or didn't want to pay?  He ended up with .271, 20 HRs and 50 RBIs for the year.

Actually just 12 HR, although 19 last year.

The Twins misjudged, but the rest of the league did too. His performance with Atlanta really came out of nowhere.

Goodness gracious, I didn't realize the Tomahawk Chop still existed.

Go Dodgers!

I can't ****ing stand the toma****inghawk chop. It's annoying as hell and IMHO it has racist overtones besides.

I just read the observation elsewhere that the Indians and Braves were both just eliminated on Columbus Day today.

Yankees / Red Sox is the only division series left to decide. So we will still have 1 game tomorrow (Tuesday), and potentially a game 5 Thursday.

Dodgers-Brewers NLCS will begin Friday, with the ALCS following on Saturday.

Well, he did start using that axe handle bat, about halfway into his final season with the Twins, and his offense shot right up.

..Don’t know if he’s still using it.

Oh yeah, the axe bat. Suzuki had a 103 wRC+ after switching full-time to the axe bat in his final Twins season in 2016. He's still been better than that in both seasons with Atlanta, especially last year.

Former Twin Lance Lynn coming into the game in New York. Bases loaded, nobody out in the 4th, Yankees already trailing 3-0.

Edit to add: 4 pitch walk to the first batter, 4-0.

Further edit to add: bases-clearing double, now 7-0.

I came here to say the same. The Lynn trade is looking better and better as it ages. But it's too bad we traded all those players away, at the deadline right? (meanwhile, Dozier has been a bench bat with just 2 PAs in a 4 game series for the Dodgers.)

They could have traded guys like Lynn and Duke with no noticeable impact on the core of the team

(yeah yeah take it to another thread :) )

Many Braves fans are not fans either. However, it was brought over initially by Deion Sanders from Florida State, and FSU has worked with the Seminole tribe closely on all things around the team. The tribe endorses and possibly even initiated the chant. However, bringing it to the Braves is not the same environment, and while using it with Deion was one thing, many fans were good with it going away as Deion did...

it was brought over initially by Deion Sanders from Florida State,

I remember the chop prominently from the 1991 World Series, in which Deion did not play. He did debut for the Braves in 1991, but only had 110 AB and a .191 AVG, after batting .178 across 180 AB with the Yankees in 1989-1990. (He did have 2 seasons under his belt with the Falcons by that point, though.)

Here's an SI article from August 1991 that briefly notes the chop "may have followed" Sanders from FSU. The stadium organist is quoted as saying it caught on with fans by mid-June, at which time Sanders was in the minor leagues:

It was 12 but that is what I remember about him most, coming out of no where to get that one hit or HR.  He was like Mr. Dependable, you could count on him when you needed a hit.

I still can't believe it, but I was cheering for the Yankees again last night. But I won't cry too many tears now that they have been eliminated!

No games Wednesday or Thursday this week -- that's worth some tears. Hopefully the LCS round goes deeper than the DS round.

The Dodgers-Brewers NLCS starts Friday on FS1/Fox, and the Astros-Red Sox ALCS begins Saturday on TBS.

It started in spring training that year. Deion would get the chant blared on speakers during spring training games. Fans that were at spring training began the chant during games in the regular season and it slowly caught on during the year.

It made some national news the other day, but lost in the 16-1 Red Sox romp over the Yankees were the 3 (not 1, not 2, count them THREE) blown calls at first by Angel Hernandez. You may recall he is suing MLB for not getting these postseason assignments often enough (in his opinion). The tape of the game might be sufficient evidence for dismissal.

Worstest. Umpire. Ever.

I absolutely hate the fact that MLB put Cleveland/Houston in the afternoon for every game.  Verlander vs Kluber is great matchup.  I just wish MLB would pull its head out of its @ss and realize the rest of America does not like Boston/New York.

Apparently enough of them do like Boston and New York:

I think one of the biggest start time sleights was back in 2006 -- A's versus Twins ALDS, games 1 & 2 in Minneapolis started at 12:10 CST -- which meant fans in Oakland (yes, there are a few :) ) got the pleasure of watching their club at 10:10 AM local time. Of course, those same fans were able to take comfort in an Oakland sweep.

I guess 2002 A's-Twins ALDS wasn't much better -- B-Ref says the Minneapolis games were 1:00 CST starts, so those broadcasts started in Oakland at 11:00 AM local time. (Looks like the Giants-Braves NLDS game 1 was at 1 PM EST that year, which would also have been 10:00 AM local time in San Francisco.)

FWIW, doesn't look like any team had a broadcast start before 12:30 local time this postseason.

I've always appreciated living in the central time zone (mountain time zone wouldn't be terrible either). My sister went to college in California and I remember once turning on the TV and there was a national broadcast on at 9 am (an east coast game of course). I thought "why is there a baseball game on at 9 in the morning?" Also the flip side is all of evening national games are over by about 8 pm. I get that it would be nice to watch games in their entirety and still get to bed at a decent time but it just seemed weird to me.

I love that NFL games are over at 1, for the early game, or that night sports are over before I want to go to bed. Great deal!

I'm on the east coast now, but still get to spend a few weeks a year in the Pacific time zone, and I treasure that time out there where it comes to sports.

I just tuned into the Dodgers-Brewers game late, and noticed the Brewers had a really quick hook for Gio Gonzalez (just 2 innings), and they didn't even wait until he was up at the plate, so his reliever Woodruff had to bat.

Then Woodruff launched a HR off of Kershaw.

I see games on until 9pm here and wonder how I used to stay up to watch sports.

Maybe I'm getting old.....
