Vanimal46 Old-Timey Member Posted September 18, 2018 Posted September 18, 2018 The Bills are a horrible, horrible football team. I'm not worried one bit about their odds of winning. A successful game to me looks like this: - Vikings up by 3+ TDs by halftime - No special teams blunders - We play all of the backups by the middle of the 3rd quarter
TheLeviathan Old-Timey Member Posted September 18, 2018 Posted September 18, 2018 I propose we just randomly kick field goals after Cousins gets a few touchdowns early. Treat it like a kicker audition and make sure Bailey still has it - get to the 30, just kick a field goal, down and distance be damned. That sort of thing. No need to take the Bills seriously. Their own players don't clearly.
nicksaviking Community Moderator Posted September 18, 2018 Posted September 18, 2018 Can Kyle Sloter be the #2 so as we can see if he has any NFL ability if the Vikings happen to run up the score a bit? I think everybody already has a legit assessment on Siemian. By legit, I of course mean poor.

We know what Siemian's upside is, which isn't much.

If he flashed well and got a nice contract, he could net a pretty decent comp pick.
SF Twins Fan Verified Member Posted September 18, 2018 Posted September 18, 2018 It really would be beneficial to be up big this week against the Bills so the Vikings can rest some of their starters since they have a Thursday game @ the LA Rams.

I don't expect Siemian to play except in 4th quarter garbage time... What do his stats have to look like in order to earn a 5th round pick vs. a 6th round pick?

I think it has more to do with the contract they sign. So showing him off a bit with a good offense could be mildly helpful. It's not a big thing, just something ot think about.

If Siemian were to get enough playing time to convince people he was worth multi-year deal, I'd think that would have to mean that Cousins went down for an extended stretch.
Doomtints Verified Member Posted September 19, 2018 Posted September 19, 2018 This is one of those games that can shock good teams. However, I don't see an upset happening here........

I doubt Semien signs for a big deal.

A successful game to me looks like this:- Vikings up by 3+ TDs by halftime- No special teams blunders- We play all of the backups by the middle of the 3rd quarter This is a classic Vikings trap game. You're right, we SHOULD be up by 3 TDs at the half. We will probably win by a much less than stellar margin.
Mike Sixel Old-Timey Member Posted September 21, 2018 Posted September 21, 2018 Dalvin Cook and Everson Griffen out for Sunday. Eiflen will play, but not start.
TheLeviathan Old-Timey Member Posted September 21, 2018 Posted September 21, 2018 Good for Elflein to get in, because Thursday we have some big boys to deal with in LA. Wise to sit out Cook and Griffin. I'd sit out Rhodes too, that guy seems to find ways to get hurt.

Mr. Brooks Verified Member Posted September 21, 2018 Posted September 21, 2018 Elflein is not playing.Huh? What changed in the last 3 hours?
diehardtwinsfan Old-Timey Member Posted September 22, 2018 Posted September 22, 2018 yeah, reports say he will be playing. I'm good with that. He gets a tuneup before what will be a really tough game 4 days later. I hope Zim comes out guns blazing. I think it woudl be good to be able to rest a lot of starters in the second half. That, might be the biggest advantage he can bring to TNF.
Doomtints Verified Member Posted September 22, 2018 Posted September 22, 2018 Reports are saying he will play, but he won't start. I would bet he's not going to play center.
Vanimal46 Old-Timey Member Posted September 22, 2018 Author Posted September 22, 2018 If he's healthy enough no reason for him not to play center. Jones is nothing more than a place holder.
diehardtwinsfan Old-Timey Member Posted September 23, 2018 Posted September 23, 2018 Jones is actually pretty decent, especially as a backup. He's a better guard than Compton too.
TheLeviathan Old-Timey Member Posted September 23, 2018 Posted September 23, 2018 Yup, the guy that needs to go is Compton.
wabene Verified Member Posted September 23, 2018 Posted September 23, 2018 Zimmer said Elflein is playing and it will be at center. Yes Jones could help at guard and is a really good backup center. I'm glad it appears Zimmer sees this weak opponent as a chance to not grind down his vets before the tough quick turnaround vs the Rams. Thursday night football is a tough deal man. Get through it and they'll get some rest.

Get through it and they'll get some rest. The other side of the coin is that the Bills are still an NFL team. One that made the playoffs last year, no less. I'm getting a little apprehensive that they may be overlooking them, and already assuming a win is in the books. We've all seen that backfire a number of times in sports. That said, I never liked Josh Allen as a draft pick, so I'm hard pressed to find a scenario that he beats the Vikings. But, I do fear that it could be closer than it should.
Vanimal46 Old-Timey Member Posted September 23, 2018 Author Posted September 23, 2018 Both starting RBs are out today Cook and McCoy.
Mr. Brooks Verified Member Posted September 23, 2018 Posted September 23, 2018 Sherels and Morgan are also out today. Hughes will handle punt returns, Conklin will be TE2.
Mr. Brooks Verified Member Posted September 23, 2018 Posted September 23, 2018 WTH is Linval thinking there?
Mr. Brooks Verified Member Posted September 23, 2018 Posted September 23, 2018 This is what I was worried about. Totally undisciplined today. Which has been a trademark of Zim's defense here, at times.
Vanimal46 Old-Timey Member Posted September 23, 2018 Author Posted September 23, 2018 Sloppy play by the Z fense.
Mr. Brooks Verified Member Posted September 23, 2018 Posted September 23, 2018 Through 2 games + 1 drive, this defense has not even been in the same ballpark as what I thought it had the potential to be, on paper.
Mr. Brooks Verified Member Posted September 23, 2018 Posted September 23, 2018 And this is what happens when you decide you've already won before you actually play the game.
