Tom Froemming Twins Daily Contributor Posted August 8, 2018 Posted August 8, 2018 Twins | 53-59 overall, 20-35 on the road, 5-5 last 10Jake Odorizzi, RHP | 4.60 ERA, 1.41 WHIP, 2.55 K:BB in 115.1 IP Cleveland | 62-50 overall, 35-23 at home, 6-4 last 10Mike Clevinger, RHP | 3.48 ERA, 1.22 WHIP, 3.09 K:BB in 139.2 IP Lineups:https://twitter.com/RhettBollinger/status/1027289194337628161?s=19 Additional notes:Adalberto Mejia left last night’s game early due to a wrist injury, but per La Velle E. Neal III the team does not believe it’s serious. The hope is he’ll make his next scheduled start. In a recent article, Mike Berardino reported that Matt Magill’s role would be changing. Instead of length, Paul Molitor will look to Magill for more high-leverage opportunities. Clevinger has had some trouble against the Twins, posting a 4.23 ERA and 1.59 WHIP in 27 2/3 innings pitched. His career marks are 3.64 ERA and 1.28 WHIP. Eddie Rosario, who is coming off a four-hit night, has a .313/.358/.549 slash line against right-handed pitchers this year.
yarnivek1972 Verified Member Posted August 8, 2018 Posted August 8, 2018 Not sure how Magill’s earned a “higher leverage” role. He’s given up at least one run in 7 of his last 9 appearances.
sampleSizeOfOne Verified Member Posted August 8, 2018 Posted August 8, 2018 I forget. Was yesterday the Straights of Dire or the Boys of Beach? Is it the other one today?
Han Joelo Verified Member Posted August 8, 2018 Posted August 8, 2018 I was going to complain about Garver's spot in the lineup, but instead, I'll just be thankful he is in the lineup. Baby steps.
sampleSizeOfOne Verified Member Posted August 8, 2018 Posted August 8, 2018 If Rosario score, i'll be happy. Good to get a lead...
Platoon Verified Member Posted August 8, 2018 Posted August 8, 2018 It's Cleveland that's in Dire Straits. We win the next three and we are only something like 7 games behind...... Then it's jut a matter of time before the enormous pressure gets to Clevleand and they wilt...... Then we walk into NY and...... and..... Sorry, an image of both the Hindenburg and Les Nessmans Turkey Promotion flashed in front of my eyes! I can't go on............
Aggies7 Old-Timey Member Posted August 8, 2018 Posted August 8, 2018 Cave plays the outfield like I do in slow pitch softball.
Aggies7 Old-Timey Member Posted August 8, 2018 Posted August 8, 2018 Are you serious, Jake Cave? That’s just brutal.
Platoon Verified Member Posted August 8, 2018 Posted August 8, 2018 Is Cave having a bad inning or is that my imagination?
Aggies7 Old-Timey Member Posted August 8, 2018 Posted August 8, 2018 Is Cave having a bad inning or is that my imagination? It’s been memorable.
yarnivek1972 Verified Member Posted August 8, 2018 Posted August 8, 2018 Note to Clevinger: get a haircut ya hippie!
yarnivek1972 Verified Member Posted August 8, 2018 Posted August 8, 2018 Well, at least Morrison made contact.
AlwaysinModeration Verified Member Posted August 8, 2018 Posted August 8, 2018 I wonder if Buxton watches all of the balls he would catch if he were manning center for the Twins.
Monkeypaws Verified Member Posted August 9, 2018 Posted August 9, 2018 Good lesson for Garver, on the defensive side.
Monkeypaws Verified Member Posted August 9, 2018 Posted August 9, 2018 Happy to see Sano out there playing and having fun.
tvagle Verified Member Posted August 9, 2018 Posted August 9, 2018 I'm glad FSN decided to broadcast the Little League World Series Regional action from Cleveland for us I heard Cave's 1st inning blunders and both of those are unacceptable attempts at the Major League Level Then...I watch as Lindor waves to Gomes to signal he'd like a pick...does everything short of yelling "Yan throw it to me on the next pitch" and Garver STILL gets picked With 47 coaches/trainers/injured players/players playing on the bench, i wonder if anyone is watching what's going on...at the VFW level we had two coaches and 14 year old guys on the bench that would have saw that and let Garvsauce know...and he may have been safe with a fundamental dive to the outfield side of the base instead of going in standing Now...LoFo can't catch a throw to 2nd...ugh...might be time to commit to watching Downtown Alley on Netflix
sampleSizeOfOne Verified Member Posted August 9, 2018 Posted August 9, 2018 Is Cave having a bad inning or is that my imagination?Yes. Though this time i think its Garver's turn...
Craig Arko Old-Timey Member Posted August 9, 2018 Posted August 9, 2018 Nothing wrong with Sano’s throwing arm, that’s for sure.
