Mejia and Moya should be able to shine in the same role for the remainder of the season!

Rodney, Morrison, Lynn, Dozier should still be gone sooner rather than later.

Then thoughts on Ervin Santana and the Twins also reliving themselves of Addison Reed's second year of contract, or is he worth keeping?

Then we start looking at the need for people like Bobby WIlson and Matt Belisle.

And then the question: who moves to Rochester!

Ryan Costello (CIF)

Chase De Jong (RHP)

De Jong might need a 40 spot.   Not that it's currently an issue.

Costello appears the more intriguing player, but he's another A-Baller.

De Jong looks like org filler. Not quite sure what they see here. Perhaps they think he can be a reliever?

Costello is somewhat intriguing. Not really old for his league, but not doing bad in A ball.

De Jong has been traded a few times already. Another low upside AAA starter on the 40-man roster, not sure what they plan on doing with him. Maybe we just took him to open a spot on Seattle's 40-man.

Costello was a 31st round pick last year. 1B/3B.

Maybe a "Twins designate Chase De Jong for assignment" headline incoming?

The return is about what could be expected for Duke. De Jong looks like a fringe prospect who doesn't have great stuff and is likely behind a lot of the Twins current pitching prospects. Costello is at least a little interesting in that he's producing pretty good numbers in low A.

Probably, but he might spend some time in the pen first. They don't need to add 40 man spots, so he might also be replacing Duke.

Makes sense. Explains why Duke hasn't pitched since 7/25. Get ready, this is more than we'll get for Dozier. Who's coming up to take his place?

Sounds like Addison Reed is coming off the DL to take Duke's spot on the 25 man roster.

As indicated above, most likely DeJong.

.562 OPS vs LHB. I’d call that impressive.

Don’t blame Duke because his manager misued him. He is what he is.

LOOGYs operate in small sample size territory every season. He gave up 0 homers with the Twins, a rate that is unsustainable. The WHIP wasn't lights-out even with lefties. I'll go with the eye test, which had him crapping around trying to fool batters rather than overwhelm them, which probably is wise strategy on his part. IOW, unimpressive. The return is about what you'd expect for a so-so LOOGY.

I, for one, want nothing in return for a so-so loogy...same for an excellent loogy too for that matter :)

Nice article on Costello.

Sounds like he was a really under the radar guy.  31st round pick out of Central Connecticut State.  Got drafted by the Mariners who drafted him because their scout was his AAU baseball coach.

Was a midwest league all star this year, currently #1 in HR, #7 in OPS, #5 in slugging.  Having a far better season than Twins 5th round pick Andrew Bechtold at the same age and same level.

Looking at his college stats, seems like he was a sub his freshman and sophmore year, broke out a little bit his senior year and no breaking out even more as a pro.  Could just be a late bloomer.

I'd imagine he'd be in the Twins Top 30 at this point.

Also, just noticed that guys in the Escobar and Pressley trade are currented ranked as #11, #14, #17 and #22 in the mlb.com rankings of the Twins system.
