OK- how does the roster change going into Milwaukee?

Don't sleep on Adrianza getting DFA'd. With Polanco up, it would not be strange to see a middle infielder go. Wilson also makes sense.

Morrison doesn't. There isn't an easy replacement there (do you want Grossman DHing everyday) and they'd be better off playing him, hoping he gets hot, and can be traded at the deadline.

The Twins are going to DFA the guy second on the team in Slugging and 4th in OPS and plays SS?

Matt Belisle                DFA
Taylor Rogers            Demote to AAA
Bobby Wilson             DFA
Robbie Grossman      DFA
Jorge Polanco            Activate
Lamonte Wade           Promote to Twins
John Curtiss               Promote to Twins
Todd Van Steensel    Promote to Twins

Why everybody hating on Rogers? Since april 30th his ERA is 2.7, and before this last game it was 2.1.

He has been better than Reed or Pressly since then.

Are we really expecting Curtiss and/or Van Steensel to be better than that?

I just want to see if either are worth hanging on to for 2019. Not bad mouthing Rogers, just making room.

Per Berardino, here are the moves:

"Buxton optioned to AAA.

LaMarre DFA.

Mejia optioned.

Adrianza (hamstring) to DL.

Polanco, Littell to 25-man."

But that still leaves an open spot, right? Polanco for LaMarre, Littell for Mejia -- who takes Adrianza's spot?

LaMarre was optioned to AAA on 6/25.    So, Polanco is taking Adrianza's spot.

Who starts next Thursday for the Twins?  It looks like it lines up for Slegers. He pitched Saturday for Rochester.

maybe we won't know until he comes charging out of the dugout right before the game when the Twins are introduced and take the field :)

So placing Adrianza on the phantom DL is the only real move here?

Watching everyone sit on their hands waiting for someone to step up while the team plays terrible baseball is somewhat irritating.

Wilson probably will stay bc of his grit during Saturday's game

Mejia looks like the same slogging #5 he was last year so he can go back to Rochester.

Moya has earned a return, though Duffey needed for length.

Grossman or Morrison would normally be DFA'd, though Morrison still shows occasional power so I'd hope it's Robbie.

I get that you're being sarcastic (I hope) but I sadly think the Twins will use this as an excuse to keep him over the new guy, .130 BA and all.

+1. I was as down on him as anyone, but he's been pretty good for an extended period now. Just don't over-use him.

I'd rather call Fernando back up.

Why in god's name is Matt Belisle still on this team? Honestly, is there a single valid explanation that could possibly justify it, cuz I sure can't think of one

So many questions....and sooooo many answers!  There's no shortage of guys that could/should be DFA'd, but it won't be Morrison.  At this point, Morrison is the only replacement for Mauer at 1B this year and beyond, so that won't happen.  I do chuckle a bit when I see people excited for Polanco to be brought up...don't discount the PED effect on previous stats.  At this point, if the Twins are looking forward to next year and beyond, I don't see Grossman in the plan...but then, I didn't see him in the plan this year either.  Certainly bring Polanco up and see what he's got, but I'm tempering my expectations.

I’ve heard he possesses some kind of pictures...............

Can’t really complain about the moves. Would have preferred Duffy over Belisle.

The silliest thing is that they waited a day to demote a starting pitcher again, basically choosing to play with a shorthanded roster. They did it 9 days ago with Romero, and now with Mejia.

And why call up Mejia for 1 start, in terrible conditions, just to demote him again? Now his next 2 turns have to be in Rochester. What does he have to prove there? He's out of options next spring too.

As you pointed out the scores would have been 11-3 instead of 11-10 if that were the case.   Kind of reminds me of when Hunter was here.    He was called a great leader while he was hitting 3 run homers.   I don't recall many comments about his great leadership when he was in a 2-30 slump.

I like this comment.  It reminds me that whenever the Twins are losing people question the clubhouse and when they are winning it's the opposite.  Seems we don't know much about the clubhouse then.

The fact he is playing 3rd again tells me Wilson is here to stay unless another catcher comes over in trade.

Wow, that is one ugly looking lineup for tonight. Mauer, Rosario, Dozier, Grossman, Polanco, Astudillo, Kepler, Wilson, Gibson.  I think the over/under on Twins runs has to be around 3.

What an optimist!

Adrianza has been one of this team's better players, so I hope it's not some phantom injury putting him on the DL. He's certainly not getting DFA'd either.

When Adrianza is ready to come off the DL, they will DFA Motter who will likely be off the DL by then.

With Motter on the DL, we're already short an infielder. And Motter probably isn't a viable option even he's healthy.

No way Adrianza gets DFA'd right now, with Escobar still required as the everyday 3B while Sano is out indefinitely (and with Escobar potentially leaving this winter).

and he’s been their 3rd or 4th “best” hitter for big swaths of the season. As pathetic as that sounds, can’t afford to downgrade in case Polanco comes back rusty

Same reason that Wilson and Grossman are. Veteran presence. It's working so well.
