Platoon Verified Member Posted June 30, 2018 Posted June 30, 2018 I know this is unpopular, but I discount any player who’s offense is built around walks-based OBP. For one thing, walks aren’t as valuable as hits, and for another, depending on MLB pitchers to fear you and not throw strikes, when they have no reason to fear you, isn’t a viable long term strategy. And also eventually, you score runs by hitting the **** ball, not NOT hitting the ball. Thank you!
wsnydes Old-Timey Member Posted June 30, 2018 Posted June 30, 2018 Good effort on the part of the ball kids to get out of the way there.

yarnivek1972 Verified Member Posted June 30, 2018 Posted June 30, 2018 Hey, Belisle is going to screw up his ERA. He has one that is the descriptor of a common commercial airline: 7.47
bighat Verified Member Posted June 30, 2018 Posted June 30, 2018 I'm frustrated the Twins front office pretty much decided to let the season get away from them while sitting on their hands and doing nothing. Changes are risky, but when you're bad, not changing anything is the most dangerous thing you can do. The front office has been watching this ship go down for the last 2 months, and nobody's lifted a finger. Belisle? Astudillo? Really? Molitor isn't the long term answer, everyone knows he's not the guy to lead this team to the next step. Firing him is almost too easy...I can't see how the guy still has a job. Any other MLB team he'd be long gone, hiring this local guy was a terrible decision in the first place and now we're seeing why.
mrmpls Verified Member Posted June 30, 2018 Posted June 30, 2018 I want to care intensely about the outcome again.Tune in saturday then,
Platoon Verified Member Posted June 30, 2018 Posted June 30, 2018 Watch it, Canuck. You’re on our Presidents **** list these days. Who isn't?
USAFChief Twins Daily Contributor Posted June 30, 2018 Posted June 30, 2018 Poor LaTroy is still trying to play the good broadcaster and urge a DP.
LaBombo Verified Member Posted June 30, 2018 Posted June 30, 2018 Hey, Belisle is going to screw up his ERA.He has one that is the descriptor of a common commercial airline: 7.47 Couple more bad outings and you can just slide the decimal point over one to the right.
S. Verified Member Posted June 30, 2018 Posted June 30, 2018 Went to check on the beef jerky I'm making. Come back and Belisle is in the game. And they've already scored more runs. And they have 2 more men on base with 1 out. Who could've possibly seen that coming?

GCTF Verified Member Posted June 30, 2018 Posted June 30, 2018 Couple more bad outings and you can just slide the decimal point over one to the right.I wish I had something for this but I used up all my "Belisle sucks" material last year.
Danchat Old-Timey Member Posted June 30, 2018 Posted June 30, 2018 More meatballs from Belisle. He better be getting DFA’d soon.

S. Verified Member Posted June 30, 2018 Posted June 30, 2018 More meatballs from Belisle. He better be getting DFA’d soon. His entire pitching repertoire is meatball and slower meatball.

USAFChief Twins Daily Contributor Posted June 30, 2018 Posted June 30, 2018 Usually, even if I disagree with something the FO does, I can see what the reason might be. Belisle? I can’t see one. What was the thought process?
LaBombo Verified Member Posted June 30, 2018 Posted June 30, 2018 I'm frustrated the Twins front office pretty much decided to let the season get away from them while sitting on their hands and doing nothing. Although I'm also frustrated by front office's inactivity, I think maybe you're not crediting the existing team enough for their likely ability to sustain the present level of futility despite a hypothetical influx of new talent.

S. Verified Member Posted June 30, 2018 Posted June 30, 2018 That breakdown by LaTroy was basically, "if the entire lineup starts playing well we're going to win some ballgames."
LaBombo Verified Member Posted June 30, 2018 Posted June 30, 2018 Mauer continues to hit like Ted Williams at Wrigley; now we just need to get the other 450 games he plays every 3 years sorted out.
wsnydes Old-Timey Member Posted June 30, 2018 Posted June 30, 2018 That breakdown by LaTroy was basically, "if the entire lineup starts playing well we're going to win some ballgames."Well, he's probably not wrong.
GCTF Verified Member Posted June 30, 2018 Posted June 30, 2018 I would have also accepted the one where he's thinking about the farm animals playing Turkey in the Straw.
S. Verified Member Posted June 30, 2018 Posted June 30, 2018 Well, he's probably not wrong. Our bullpen might beg to differ.
LaBombo Verified Member Posted June 30, 2018 Posted June 30, 2018 I would have also accepted the one where he's thinking about the farm animals playing Turkey in the Straw. The tie-breaker was the front office's vision for our Twins including the bear wearing a fez.
S. Verified Member Posted June 30, 2018 Posted June 30, 2018 I feel like Gene Glynn is an awful 3rd base coach but I don't think I have enough evidence to back it up. Seems like he has waved a bunch of guys around this year who then got thrown out by a mile, and he tries to hold guys up when they can easily score. But, I guess on the list of my concerns about the team, thats probably on the 5th or 6th page.

wsnydes Old-Timey Member Posted June 30, 2018 Posted June 30, 2018 Our bullpen might beg to differ.Pitching hasn't really been the problem though. Plus, only half of the bullpen sees the field anyway.
