Let's face it though, everyone in the league does it. It was bad luck, but really, 1 run in 7 innings in a playoff race against Marco Estrada ain't gonna cut it

So true. This team needs to win with offense. Score at least 5, early if possible, and hope hard.

Agreed. This isn't a team that's going to win too many 3-0 or 2-1 games. How about this motto: "Score, score, score, and hold the other guys to four!"

Moya never stops moving, even when he is supposedly in the still part of the stretch. I don't see how it is not a balk.

Made your motto better   ;)

Moya should throw a lot more change ups. With all that histrionics, hitters are looking for something impressive. Keep throwing change ups, maybe they'll screw themselves into the ground. Also, stomp and fume behind the mound. Remember the Abominable Slow Man? Grabowski or something... Guy was hilarious, and it worked.

I don't understand why Buxton plays so shallow. I understand that he can get back to the wall, but, it would seem that the inverse of that would be true, that he can get to the shallow flys and hits, too from regular depth. The wall is a lot harder than the grass that he would be diving on, and he could see what is in front of him. I just think he would be even more effective if he used his speed running forward, instead of backward, and the end result would be the same amazing catches, with less chance of serious injury, and even more great catches.

The only sure way to assure that you become the wild card, is to win games. Scoreboard watching sucks. Win your own games, especially if you are 3 games up, and you could care less what anyone else does.

Now 7-8 in September, with the easiest schedule of the wild card hopefuls coming into the month, and playoff teams coming up. NY and Cleveland. Time to become.

The absolute worst thing is that we haven't played a club with a winning record since the dbacks series August 18-20. Record since August 21: 14-12

And thus why yesterday really hurt...starting Mejia was a dicey proposition, and 6-7 innings from this bullpen just isn't going to end well.  Friday's game was there to be won, and the manager coughed it up.

Today was a game we weren't going to win. Not enough offense, bad start, one bad inning for the bullpen. That's why you need to win games like yesterday when it's close.

Sunday's game is crucial.  A 3-3 homestand against these two teams is poor.  Nine road games in 10 days (and against motivated opponents) could prove fatal.  Though the real opponents (Anaheim, et al) might stumble so badly that the Twins can just jog into the WC play-in game. That's pathetic.
