If it's me, I let Dozier hit. He just didn't get it done.

I understand that point of view.

But, for crying out loud, he's buntint the 3 hitter in the 6th-7th inning. Now, with a guy hitting .850 since the All-Star break on deck, nobody out, and good speed on the bases, he lets Dozier swing away because he's "earned it."

That just defies logic.

Need to win soon. No need to tax the limited arms they have that much more.

Dozier is on fire lately as well. Bunting would be absurd.

Mauer wouldn't hit if Dozier sacrificed.

Anyway, I too understand the logic, but I hate making intentional outs, and I'm not going to change my mind because of the outcome.

It would suck to get beat by Barney.

Is that a pokemon?

I was against it just to avoid the possible spectacle of Dozier trying to pull the bunt for extra bases.

To be clear, it's an indictment of Molitor bunting Polanco, not so much his decision not to bunt there.

This would've been the one time, of all the times, I would've said, "oh a bunt, that might make sense here," and he doesn't do it.

Too presumptuous to prepare a walk-off post in advance?

Maybe more of a jinx, but it only rates about a 2 on the presumptuousness scale of zero to Smalley.

Edit.  Not at all, at as it turns out.

Another note: Mauer has the 4th highest BA with RISP in the history of baseball, and is on deck.

He chooses to bunt in other situations with Rosario, etc, in deck.

Buxton makes it moot.
