They sacrificed early in the game again? Or tried? Can't wait for a new manager

Not sure it was an intentional sacrifice, looked like he was bunting for a hit since it went up the 3rd baseline. I think Dozier just got gunshy after blowing 2 straight at-bats with runners on 2nd & 3rd. Didn't want to blow the next at-bat with runners on 1st & 2nd.

Arrrrgh-- Esco, too!  But at least he worked a walk.

You know, the thing is-- we SUCK at bunting, as a team.  Nobody but Bartolo Colon can lay one down to move guys along anyway, so when we try bunting for a hit.... (esp. with RISP)   Come on, guys.  It's not like there are RBI machines anywhere in our lineup.  Get it done with the bat, not the bunt.

Rosario's hit wasn't with RISP, of course, and Adrianza makes sure to lower that BA further by not getting it out of the infield.

Bravo Rosario. The nearest infielder was where, behind second? Shifting for Jason Castro with two outs. Managers get too cute sometimes.

Nearest was deep short, but even still. He could've led off halfway to home and been back to third before the shortstop could've got over there.

Which gets at one of the reasons I don't get too wound up about RISP numbers.

Didn't get to see the Rosario-induced balk live, but it's exactly the type of thing Molitor would have done as a player. And if the pitcher hadn't balked Rosario could have stolen home because of the idiotic defensive alignment. Any smart manager knows you have to keep a runner on third base honest. Either way a run.

I thought he was going to try and steal home for sure. He could have gotten a 40 foot leadoff.
