What did Gallo do again?

He didn't make sure his manager didn't make that garbage challenge after our star player was injured by a reckless pitch.

There was nothing intentional in Sano getting hit or Dozier getting stepped on a bit. Gallo had a great throw and the catcher made a great attempt at getting Dozier out. Intentionally plunking Gallo is just going to result in Sano getting plunked again tomorrow, but intentionally this time around.

yeah, I didn't see anything either, and I'm a fan of players policing the game through on field discipline.

Is this a serious post? Gallo is in left field. Did you expect him to run to the dugout and argue with his manager when he saw they were thinking of challenging a close play at home? And a breaking ball in on the hands isn't a reckless pitch. They're thrown numerous times every game, that one just got away from the guy.

No but I do expect him to communicate to his manager that he doesn't want him to do anything stupid if the other teams star player leaves the game following a pitcher screwing up.

There's something to be said for having your players back.  Gallo not deserving it isn't the issue here.  Molitor disrespecting his own players on a consistent basis for 3 years is the issue.  Failing to have Sano's back on Tuesday was pathetic.

Man, I keep getting these unwanted emails from some random company offering to sell me tinned meat.

Bloody spam.

C'mon now. I even made a post earlier today in another thread about wishing Molitor would bench Dozier today for his half assed base running yesterday, and saying he should've stood up for Sano when he got ejected the other day. But nothing that happened here is even remotely worth being upset about.

1. A player got hit on the hands by a breaking ball

2. there was a close play at home that inadvertently resulted in dozier getting stepped on because the catcher had to jump to catch the ball

3. there was a manager challenge because it was a close play and the texas replay guy probably wasn't sure when Dozier's spike actually touched the plate or if it missed on the side

None of these things are an issue worth plunking someone over.

Absolutely right. And further, any resulting action or non-action on any of these events has absolutely nothing to do with Molitor having the players backs or not.

watch it with the math, bub.

Isn't there a difference between numbers and math? Here I've thought throwing around numbers was OK but if you dare add or multiply any of them you get swiftly banned.

My bad.

I can't tell the difference.

Maybe the best thing about Colon's start is how he's discussing it with Mejia. If I can do it, so can you, kid...

"...just add a little here, a little there...say, 20 years and 100 pounds..."

I don't think Nicholas landed the way he did to try to spike Dozier. But I think he did land that way to try to block home plate with his foot. I'm still not clear enough on the rule about blocking home plate to know it that's legal.

Mrs Chief quit her job at the helium factory today, and I can't blame her.  She got into it with her boss, and the guy was a real ****, and Mrs Chief just couldn't take it any more.  Nobody should have to take being spoken to in that tone of voice.

Since the run scored and no out was recorded, does it matter?

That right there is what we call a "brushback pitch," spin.

I believe it was acceptable as Dozier still had a lane to the plate? I'm not sure though and I'm far too lazy to go looking up the exact rules at the moment.

Is there really chatter about plunking someone over Sano??  Come on, we're better than that.

As for the situation with Dozier at the plate, as long as the catcher has the ball, he can do whatever he has to do to block the plate.  If he's waiting for the throw to come in, he has to give a clear sliding/running lane to the plate.  Gone are the days of being able to sneak your leg into the lane to block off the plate before he has possession.  Since the throw led Nicholas into the basepath, he's entitled to go get the ball and since it made him jump, he doesn't have much control over where he comes down.  So everything that happened there was legal and it just so happened that Dozier might have gotten a spike.  That's the breaks sometimes.

Given the reason for the rule change yes.  Problem is there is no actual penalty for it outside of not getting the out.
