But did he turn the correct way?

He knew that he should have taken that left turn at Albuquerque.

This loss would be easier to take if half our other losses weren't of the 18-3 variety*

*this game ain't over yet!

Yes, this game has Belisle meltdown written all over it.

With the extra wild card spot allowing mediocre teams to make the playoffs, we have a legitimate shot at qualifying. Games like this will be the reason we fail (if we fail)

if ?

There is hope for the game threaders yet :)

If a new stadium were designed with a ladder like that it would be considered a travesty, an unacceptable gimmick. But Fenway lovers probably consider it a lovable quirk. Just another example of how most people way overrate Fenway as a baseball stadium.

Moreover, I'm sure it would be easy to design a removable ladder. There's no excuse.

I didn't want to get lambasted for saying WHEN we fail. But in all honesty, we have a shot. The are lots of teams near us, but every one of them has their own shortcomings.

Indeed we do, and not only that, we have two excellent starting pitchers that could take us further than people expect if we do get there

I have to assume that the ladder is a safety escape for the people up in the nose-bleed seats. So you couldn't take it down.

Haven't seen one game at Fenway (Scott Baker lost despite good performance and a lovely triple from Nick Punto), I'm not at all impressed. It could be (and probably was) a nice 25,000 seat stadium, but making it seat more means half the crowd is in 60 rows of bad seats behind the rightfield wall. Plus you have obstructed views due to the poles in the good seats. It's historic, but, really, not a good baseball stadium IMHO.

Kepler got bit by the weird right field. He's not alone.

Maybe not. He just didn't get there. Looked more awkward than that though.

Is it time to send down Buxton yet? It's almost half way through the season and he is batting .196 . It's not like the twins have a young hitter batting.370 down in AAA

WTF is espn doing? The game is going in and they're showing a split screen of a two minute long Tim kurkjian sad story about his dad who died of cancer

ESPN's focus is now on the E (entertainment) more than the S.

How does that make sense?

The laddder has been there from day one. They have only had seating for like 10-15 years.

You guys keep worrying about the ladder. Meanwhile, we're moving closer to another of our famous double digit loss

Nope, definitely not. We need his elite defense in CF and he's been hitting around the .230-.240 range the last month. Granite would be an improvement at the plate but not defensively.

Charles Krauthammer is not my favorite columnist, but this from tomorrow's Washington Post seems especially a propos tonight:

"In that spirit, but without the cash, I offer the Krauthammer Conjecture: In sports, the pleasure of winning is less than the pain of losing. By any Benthamite pleasure/pain calculation, the sum is less than zero. A net negative of suffering. Which makes you wonder why anybody plays at all."

Well clearly it's the ladder's fault, so...

We Fail?

But screw your courage to the sticking-place, and we'll not fail!
