Tomorrow is July 1 here in HK.  It will be the 20th Anniversary of the handover to from UK dominion to China.  The agreement was for the city to have its own system of Rule of Law, self-government, and freedom of speech, all of which have been severely curtailed by the Beijing government the past few years.

It came to a head a couple of years ago when people occupied several major sites for months, facing down teargas, police brutality, and official collusion with violent gangsters.

Every July 1 there is a march for Democracy, which, along with the June 6th Tiananmen Square rally I've joined every year since I arrived.  I'll be back in the streets tomorrow, so won't be around for the game.  Xi Jin Ping is in town for the 'celebration,' and the usual gathering point in Victoria Park for the march, has been reserved for a bunch of bussed-in pro-Beijing jagoffs.   Appreciate your good wishes in what's probably a Quixotic event, but I'm going to stand up just the same.

Freedom.

I totally agree. Red Sox fans are among the most sanctimonious around. They think that everyone should love their team just because they are only the second most hate-able team in MLB.

Something tells me there aren't many Red Sox fans in Portland, Oregon. They don't bother me. Three rings in less than 15 years after almost 100 without one, they can gloat. Yankees fans on the other hand...

There are actually a ton of Red Sox fans here. Portland would have been named Boston but for a lost coin toss (to an immigrant from Portland, ME). There are a lot of New Englanders here.

Plus, my son and son-out-of-law (not married yet) are both Red Sox fans, which makes me want to beat them even more.

Kintzler is a fine, 4-ish xFIP reliever and a decent placeholder in the closer role, but it's beyond eye-rolling when Gladden spontaneously breaks into a two minute 'Brandon Kintzler, All Star candidate' informercial, and it's just plain embarrassing to compare him to Craig Kimbrel.

You should have been around here when the Phillies and Yankees were in the series. Then you'd really know what annoying is.

85 games left. Give it a week or two.

I was referring to the specific play. Boshers threw a pitch very wide. Giminez tried to throw out the runner at second. The throw was way late and bounced. Polanco was fortunate to keep it in the infield.

I wish I could do more than like this.

I think his tongue may have been planted firmly in his cheek.
