Let's be fair, we all expected 90-100+ losses from this team. We didn't get win 22 until June 21 last year, a whole month ahead of schedule. This isn't a playoff club, but improvement is being shown. Lots of holes to fill, but Gibson wouldn't even be here without 2 DHs played in 5 days. It stinks but what are you gonna do?

I only commented because of the situation. Down 5, infield is back, hitters count. Have to be looking for something to drive, don't you? And to be fair, sano isn't usually exactly what I would call a selective swinger.

Morris has been pretty good. He's grumbling and growling about Gibson because he thinks Gibson has the stuff to be better than he is.

Really? They should. 2-0 count, man on, down by five with your big home run hitter on deck? Situational hitting calls for the hitter to make the guy throw at least one strike before swinging after he throws two balls. C'mon guys, now were just looking for reasons to kvetch about Mauer.

On 2-0, every hitter, no matter the situation, should be looking for a specific pitch, and if they get it, they should absolutely swing.

All of the defensive issues are no real excuse for bad as Gibson was pitching. They have raised the strike zone and neutralized his sinker.. That may have the impact of neutralizing his career

 

He is getting behind way too frequently. 

 

When he does get two strikes on a batter. His waste pitch is miles from the strikezone so he really wastes it. 

 

And because he can't locate... When he tries to correct his waste pitch by making it closer to the zone... He grooves it. 

 

He can't locate and he will get lit up until he figures it out.
