Mike Sixel Old-Timey Member Posted May 22, 2017 Posted May 22, 2017 Leave him in. Save all those bullpen arms.... disappointed.
70charger Verified Member Posted May 22, 2017 Posted May 22, 2017 Machado went for that with his bare, throwing hand. I have to think that's instinct because, damn, that's a dumb thing to do.
70charger Verified Member Posted May 23, 2017 Posted May 23, 2017 Missed the play but what happened on possible double play ball before the floodgates opened? Dozier couldn't turn it. Stuck in his glove. It really didn't seem like it was going to be a big deal at the time. Oldgoat_MN 1
drock2190 Verified Member Posted May 23, 2017 Posted May 23, 2017 Orioles announcers upset about the play not being overturned but Dozier will be probably be stranded anyways making it all moot. Danchat 1
Riverbrian Old-Timey Member Posted May 23, 2017 Author Posted May 23, 2017 Holy cow, I look away for 10 minutes and they've already scored 5 runs! What happened defensively that you guys are referring to? Dozier dropped a double play turn Castro got a ball knocked out of his glove on a play at the plate. On the plus side... Buxton almost made the catch of decade and he made a decent throw to the plate that would have nabbed the runner if Castro held on.

akmanak Verified Member Posted May 23, 2017 Posted May 23, 2017 Gibsons spot start really showed us something.......you always trust stats when dealing with baseball. The Twins will barely be a .500 team. We wont win against west and east coast teams if we dont make some serious changes. Gibson should of never gotten the start in the first place. David HK 1
USAFChief Twins Daily Contributor Posted May 23, 2017 Posted May 23, 2017 That's 99 percent on Gibson. Yeah, coulda been a GIDP. That leaves it at runner on 1st, 1 out. 5 runs later...its all in Gibson. Dozier's Glorious Hair 1
snepp Verified Member Posted May 23, 2017 Posted May 23, 2017 So this is where the wheels fall of for Gibson? I was kind of hoping it'd at least be a couple innings later. Let's check... Indeed. 70charger, Oldgoat_MN, Danchat and 9 others 12

Gibson should of never gotten the start in the first place.Let's be fair, we all expected 90-100+ losses from this team. We didn't get win 22 until June 21 last year, a whole month ahead of schedule. This isn't a playoff club, but improvement is being shown. Lots of holes to fill, but Gibson wouldn't even be here without 2 DHs played in 5 days. It stinks but what are you gonna do? Cap'n Piranha Verified Member Posted May 23, 2017 Posted May 23, 2017 I nearly threw up my fish and chips when I saw Gibson on the mound. Just ain't workin for this guy, although he's getting zero defensive help this inningIt's hard to catch it when they hit it over the fence. David HK 1
David HK Verified Member Posted May 23, 2017 Posted May 23, 2017 New Gibson, same as the old Gibson. Thanks for that. At least I've got a rockin' good song in my head now. Riverbrian 1

No comments?I only commented because of the situation. Down 5, infield is back, hitters count. Have to be looking for something to drive, don't you? And to be fair, sano isn't usually exactly what I would call a selective swinger. David HK 1
Blake Verified Member Posted May 23, 2017 Posted May 23, 2017 Morris has been pretty good. He's grumbling and growling about Gibson because he thinks Gibson has the stuff to be better than he is. I find it hard to disagree. The reaction by Gibson to the run he gave up showed me someone who needs to learn to shake things off. Gibson probably knows his career is on the line and isn't coping with the pressure. David HK, 70charger and Riverbrian 3
Cap'n Piranha Verified Member Posted May 23, 2017 Posted May 23, 2017 Really? They should. 2-0 count, man on, down by five with your big home run hitter on deck? Situational hitting calls for the hitter to make the guy throw at least one strike before swinging after he throws two balls. C'mon guys, now were just looking for reasons to kvetch about Mauer. On 2-0, every hitter, no matter the situation, should be looking for a specific pitch, and if they get it, they should absolutely swing.
Riverbrian Old-Timey Member Posted May 23, 2017 Author Posted May 23, 2017 All of the defensive issues are no real excuse for bad as Gibson was pitching. They have raised the strike zone and neutralized his sinker.. That may have the impact of neutralizing his career He is getting behind way too frequently. When he does get two strikes on a batter. His waste pitch is miles from the strikezone so he really wastes it. And because he can't locate... When he tries to correct his waste pitch by making it closer to the zone... He grooves it. He can't locate and he will get lit up until he figures it out. Oldgoat_MN 1
Cap'n Piranha Verified Member Posted May 23, 2017 Posted May 23, 2017 I think Gibson is definitely pitching with a chip on his shoulder. Unfortunately, that makes it real tough to get proper arm action. Mike Sixel, Blake, Oldgoat_MN and 4 others 7
