Tweet from LEN3:

Looks like the Twins will get a free arm (or bat) for a couple days. Who is even worth calling up at this point?

Boshers can't be called up. Berrios won't be ready to pitch in time. Chargois has been meh in his 2 games. Mejia should start.

Melotakis?

Couldn't Boshers be called up because of the circumstance?  I thought he would be able to replace a player placed on the DL?

You know, I'm not sure. It's not the DL, but it's certainly possible.

Santiago tweeted it last night (or maybe it was Instagram), so we figured it was coming...

And I don't mean to minimize his loss. Tough situation for him.

If they want to see more of Chargois before activating him they could bring up Hildenberger. The Twins could make their decision about what to do with Adrianza. It's either him or Danny to DFA list.

We'll have a 3 man rotation for a couple days!

And Gibson is somehow one of those 3!

Methinks we aren't too far from having another Albers-like player start another game...

Probably why Tepesch is on the roster.

What did he tweet?  What happened?

not seeing why we want a reliever, unless the plan is to have a bullpen game in there and stretch Duffey out a bit to take a spot.

Otherwise, the options are:

1)  recall Mejia (which may as well be a bullpen game)

2)  Figure out a way to juggle things so Berrios can have a start

3)  Add a guy like Tepesh or Wheeler to the 40 man.  O'Rourke is going to the 60 day anyways, so there's not really a risk of exposing anyone until after the season.

Santiago will be back for his next start, this is a temporary call up. And Tepesch is already on the 25 man.

I wonder if there is any discretion from the league about allowing this? Seems odd and perhaps inappropriate to request a roster replacement for a starting pitcher between starts in this manner. It reminds me of various new roster rule proposals -- there generally has to be some different rules regarding starting pitchers since they are pretty much inactive in 80% of games anyway, by definition.

This is pretty small beer compared to some of the roster manipulation seen from the Dodgers, Rays and some other teams. And it's going to happen even more with the 10 day dl.

There would probably be some benefit in cleaning it up, but as long as it's there, good to see the Twins finally take a little advantage.

They can recall boshers. 10 day rule is waived for bereavement. And no they aren't going to make a 40 man move for 4 days.
