Why didn't the Twins start Berrios instead of May today? If this is a fair competition for the 5th starter spot them Berrios should have had the start today. In all honesty no matter if Berrios had an ERA of 0 and didn't walk anyone in his starts and showed considerable improvement in his control and command he'd still pitch in AAA. Kinda pathetic because I feel Berrios once again wasn't given a fair shot at making the rotation at the start of the season.

There was no chance of him not starting a clean inning, so I'm not sure why or how it mattered anyways.

Berrios is going to pitch in the WBC where the Twins will have less control in terms of controlling his innings, this might be the last chance they have to do so until after the tournament. Also with his absence from the team for the WBC he's going to have less time to develop and work on things with the team which means it might already be a foregone conclusion that he isn't going to head north with the club. If it's already in the cards that he'll start in AAA, of course they should be giving May more innings.

 

But his failure to make the team would be because of his choice to play in the tournament, not because the Twins are being Tyrannical. Not in this case anyway.
