Wow. So I was accidentally right?

A good day!

You know what they say, even the dogs ass shines on the sun some days.

Or something like that.  :)

In Summary the Leones del Escogido Team SS will end up playing 2B because of Lindor and the Leones del Escogido 2B will end up playing SS for the Twins.

You gotta love Baseball

You sir, can connect dots like no other.

Well done. (despite the resultant depression)

FIFY.

And yes, a thinking person really does have to love baseball (no matter how confusing).

I'm confused...who's on first?

While I agree that Polanco is a pretty suspect MLB shortstop, I'm also not prepared to endow the decisions of a Dominican Winter League manager with the weight of Pure and Perfect Baseball Knowledge.  Maybe he's right, maybe he's wrong.  Maybe the fans want to see the other guy play- we've all heard stories about the fan pressure down there.  I'm not going to automatically accept the baseball judgement of a 35-yr-old guy who never played above High A and probably saw Polanco for one workout before making his decision.

Man, do I need me some Spring Training.

Pulled this off a Tribe prospect list from spring of last year, where he was ranked their #15 prospect. (bold emphasis mine)

If that's even remotely accurate, which I have no reason to doubt, it sounds like a perfectly reasonable decision to deny playing Polanco at short.

It looks like there are only three IF on Leones del Escogido's roster that are on 40 man rosters.  Gonzalez, Polanco and a third guy listed at 2B that is younger than Polanco.  If Gonzalez is the better glove, it makes perfect sense since Polanco is probably their best option at 2B.

No, no. Hu's pitching for the Rays. Thanks Terry!

Nick Gordon says no, and I agree.....

Agree that Gordon is long-term option, but he is at least a year out. Wouldn't mind seeing a better option at SS in the meantime, especially a good defender. Our pitching staff agrees.

Good lord, is there no end to the team hiring players to the front office? If it was me, I would have at least let him play AAA first.

In a year they won't likely compete, when Gordon will be here sometime in 2018 (assuming health, which you'd have to assume for a guy you trade for also)....you'd give up assets to fill that potential hole in 2017? Why?

When you mean here, do you mean watching the games in the stands?  HIGHLY doubt he's here playing in 2018.  MAYBE mid-late 2019.  Kind of surprising he's moving so quickly considering he's been fairly pedestrian.

I have no doubt he'll be a MN Twin in 2018, barring injury, of course.

Well, I really just threw it out to stir up some conversation. I like Gordon, but I'd like to have options if he isn't ready by 2018. I have my concerns about Polanco as a SS and he's a wasted resource if the Twins don't move Dozier. If the Twins don't move Dozier, theoretically trading Polanco for Gonzalez might make sense. Gonzalez doesn't appear to have the stick Polanco does, but is an upgrade defensively. One major problem with this idea is that the Indians have Kipnis.

Can we please just trade Dozier??? Polanco at 2B and then sign a guy like Aybar to compete with Esco. It just makes the most sense, but then again we've hashed this out ad nauseam. I would love it if Gordon was at SS in 2018 and Polanco at 2B. I just worry about what our options are if Gordon isn't ready in 2018.

I for one am SHOCKED that the Twins are going into a season have zero idea what they will do at SS.

We are almost as sad as the Browns are when it comes to QB choices.

I hate to say it, but it reminds a little of the year that they traded Span and Revere and essentially handed Hicks the position. The difference is that Hicks was likely ready defensively but not offensively. The reverse is probably true with Polanco. I'm not sure how wise that is considering how important SS is defensively. The saving grace in this situation is that we have Escobar as a safety net, which I'm not sure we had with Hicks.
