I'm with you.  I'd be very interested in adding Tyson Ross.  Shoulders are tricky, but that's your best buy-low, big-payoff FA pitcher by a landslide.

Wellington Castillo was also nontendered and would be a much better bench option than Murphy (he'd also make a nice platoon pair with Castro (.850ish OPS against Lefties).  I don't know how is defense is though.

We traded Revere for May and Worley. With the recent non-tenders, we now have the opportunity to have all three, if you like that type of symmetry.

 

It scratches a certain obsessive-compulsive "collect the whole set" itch, for me at least. Falvey: "You've got baseball cards for all three? Shoot, I *have* all three."

 

Kind of having your cake while eating it too, if you like noodle-armed cakes. ("Wait, are we still talking about Revere? Or Worley?")

 

Getting Span and Meyer back would be a higher degree of difficulty stunt, requiring trading. This only requires signing low salary free agents.

 

If we were to re-acquire JJ Hardy, it might prove to be an insurmountable challenge to get Jim Hoey to put alongside of him, since I don't know if anyone on the planet has his phone number anymore.

Ben Revere is a solid outfielder, a solid lead off hitter, has great speed everywhere and is a solid clubhouse guy. Have you ever seen him without a huge smile on his face? I don't care what happened last year (injuries or otherwise), Revere should be offered a fair contract and be on the first plane back to Minnesota, first class.

Jon Heyman reported that the Twins and Eduardo Escobar agreed at $2.6 million for 2017.

That's a good deal less than the $3.5M slated for him by TD.  MLBTR was a bit closer at 2.9.

 

Leaves more payroll room to go after a high-salary pitcher via trade.
