Eris Verified Member Posted October 26, 2016 Posted October 26, 2016 I am surprised that Joe West is umpiring. Just curious about what the selection process. One of the worst home plate umps in 2014. Sorry can't find similar data for this year. http://epicrelievers.com/2014/07/statistically-ranking-the-best-and-worst-home-plate-umpires-in-mlb/ http://www.foxsports.com/mlb/story/umpire-joe-west-awful-voted-worst-baseball-stinks-balls-strikes-torii-hunter-check-swing-040815
Brock Beauchamp Site Manager Posted October 26, 2016 Posted October 26, 2016 Francona is a GREAT manager. Top 3. I'm not sure I disagree with the move myself, though it's starting to look bad.I simply don't see the wisdom in pulling a guy who is striking out damned near every other batter in the World Series. Save Miller for the second base runner, if he comes.

BTW, He's the President of the Umpires. He's horrible, but that could be a reason why he gets so much playoff time.
Brock Beauchamp Site Manager Posted October 26, 2016 Posted October 26, 2016 ****ing Miller. That 3-1 pitch was filth.
Brock Beauchamp Site Manager Posted October 26, 2016 Posted October 26, 2016 That was some ballsy pitching right there. Going with the breaking ball on 3-1 and clipping the bottom of the zone takes balls the size of watermelons. Whew. At least the game had one fun inning.

Miller stares death in the face, throws bases loaded 3-1 slider for strike, throws 3-2 slider down and in, gets check swing strikeout.
Blake Verified Member Posted October 26, 2016 Posted October 26, 2016 I'm with you. Dude is just painting corners right now.By the way, Cleveland in 5. (There are a lot of Dodger fans at work and I told them, even after the Dodgers were up 2-1 the Cubbies would take it in 6)* *Past performance is no guarantee of future results.

West is in right field tonight. At least he was introduced as such in the pre-game. I would say that he can't do much damage in right but he did a lot of damage in left a number of years ago. I made my comment because I would have thought there would be some effort made to have the best umpires for the WS. But, that doesn't appear to be the case. http://m.mlb.com/news/article/206992952/world-series-umpire-crew-announced/

Squirrel Community Moderator Posted October 26, 2016 Posted October 26, 2016 6:00 CT game start tomorrow? Beautiful. We can all put our dentures in the glass at a reasonable time.Dentures? Who do you think you are? Chief?
Vanimal46 Old-Timey Member Posted October 26, 2016 Posted October 26, 2016 Dentures? Who do you think you are? Chief? Some mornings I sure do feel like that! I think that's one of those old time sayings I picked up from my grandpa.
Hosken Bombo Disco Community Moderator Posted October 26, 2016 Posted October 26, 2016 Anybody else sense that Buck and Fox are in the bag for the Cubs? LOL
Vanimal46 Old-Timey Member Posted October 26, 2016 Posted October 26, 2016 Well, this isn't the Cubbies night. They certainly had their opportunities to tie the game.
Vanimal46 Old-Timey Member Posted October 26, 2016 Posted October 26, 2016 Anybody else sense that Fox and every media outlet in America are in the bag for the Cubs? LOLFTFY.

Squirrel Community Moderator Posted October 26, 2016 Posted October 26, 2016 Oh wow ... hehehe ... gonna be interesting at work tomorrow.
Squirrel Community Moderator Posted October 26, 2016 Posted October 26, 2016 If the Indians win (I know how not to jinx things unlike some of you) ... if the Indians win tonight, I'm gonna have to come up with something snarky but not sounding snarky to say.

No need to say anything snarky, that way.
Squirrel Community Moderator Posted October 26, 2016 Posted October 26, 2016 I'd go with something subtle, like a Cleveland banner sash or maybe an Indian headdress. No need to say anything snarky, that way.I was thinking of something like, 'Welcome to life in the AL'
Squirrel Community Moderator Posted October 26, 2016 Posted October 26, 2016 Heh .,, or ... 'Hmmm ... even the Twins have won against Kluber ... '
Hosken Bombo Disco Community Moderator Posted October 26, 2016 Posted October 26, 2016 Fox broadcasters: nobody thought the Cubs would win tonight anyway so who cares about the World Series baseball is stupid. ..that said, they do have a point. The Cubs rotation is deeper with all the Cleveland injuries.

No need to say anything snarky, that way.Another reason to pull for Cleveland is maybe they will reconsider their position on that ghastly logo and rebrand completely to the block C which I think looks good all my opinion of course
Vanimal46 Old-Timey Member Posted October 26, 2016 Posted October 26, 2016 Heh .,, or ... 'Hmmm ... even the Twins have won against Kluber ... 'Even the Twins, who are terrible (really emphasize terrible) scored 4 runs against Kluber... Why couldn't your high power offense do anything? Or... Hmm, I guess I fell asleep. The Cubs aren't that entertaining TBH.
twinssporto Verified Member Posted October 26, 2016 Posted October 26, 2016 This is actually boring. Kluber is too good tonight. You're just used to watching Twins pitching. This is what good pitching looks like.
Mike Sixel Old-Timey Member Posted October 26, 2016 Posted October 26, 2016 Not only is Joe West there, but pitch f/x says last night's ump is one of the worst in baseball......so, ya, I don't think Merit has much to do with who is umpiring at all....
