Seth Stohs Site Manager Posted October 25, 2016 Posted October 25, 2016 Chicago is in Cleveland for Game 1 of the World Series. Feel free to discuss throughout the game. Lineups: CUBS:Dexter Fowler CFKris Bryant 3BAnthony Rizzo 1BBen Zobrist LFKyle Schwarber DHJavier Baez 2BChris Coghlan RFAddison Russell SSDavid Ross CJon Lester P Jason Heyward, who signed a 10-year, $184 million deal with the Cubs last offseason, is again out of the lineup, benched for Chris Coghlan. Of course, the Schwarber decision is very interesting. After being hurt in the 2nd game of the season, he had surgery, rehabbed, and was activated last week. He played a game or two in the AFL, and now is batting 5th in the World Series. CLEVELAND: Rajai Davis LFJason Kipnis 2BFrancisco Lindor SSMike Napoli 1BCarlos Santana DHJose Ramirez 3BBrandon Guyer LFLonnie Chisenhall RFRoberto Perez CCorey Kluber SP Who will win tonight in Game 1? Who will play hero?

Craig Arko Old-Timey Member Posted October 25, 2016 Posted October 25, 2016 I just hope for a sweep so Falvey comes over as early as possible.
jimmer Verified Member Posted October 25, 2016 Posted October 25, 2016 Lester is going to miss Ross next year and the years after. Those two work great together.
Vanimal46 Old-Timey Member Posted October 26, 2016 Posted October 26, 2016 Hot start for Cleveland. Damage could have been way worse for the Cubbies.
ScrapTheNickname Provisional Member Posted October 26, 2016 Posted October 26, 2016 This is my sentiment too.
Vanimal46 Old-Timey Member Posted October 26, 2016 Posted October 26, 2016 1.77 postseason ERA for Cleveland. Holy bleep.
Vanimal46 Old-Timey Member Posted October 26, 2016 Posted October 26, 2016 Ross is making up for all of Lester's yips. Guy didn't want a free out picking off Lindor.
spinowner Provisional Member Posted October 26, 2016 Posted October 26, 2016 This is my sentiment too.I don't know why I can't get behind the Cubs. I think it might be an American League thing.
ScrapTheNickname Provisional Member Posted October 26, 2016 Posted October 26, 2016 Question: how long can I player be injured on the field before being told by the umpires to leave the game? Rule? (I'm sure it's vague)
Brock Beauchamp Site Manager Posted October 26, 2016 Posted October 26, 2016 This is actually boring. Kluber is too good tonight.
Vanimal46 Old-Timey Member Posted October 26, 2016 Posted October 26, 2016 This is actually boring. Kluber is too good tonight.I'm with you. Dude is just painting corners right now.
PseudoSABR Verified Member Posted October 26, 2016 Posted October 26, 2016 Question: how long can I player be injured on the field before being told by the umpires to leave the game? Rule? (I'm sure it's vague)I was wondering that too. There should actually be a rule that spares of having to watch Santana drink a Gatorade pack. It would be nice if Santana could just sub out for a couple plays/minutes until he recovers without losing his spot, but of course teams would take advantage of that. Alternatively you could have the opposing team pick the bench player, but that seems logistically impossible. And I think you're right about the actual rule being subjectively permissive. In a World Series, there's no chance that an umpire would invoke it, with such discretion.
Brock Beauchamp Site Manager Posted October 26, 2016 Posted October 26, 2016 I'm with you. Dude is just painting corners right now. It's not really fair. Nasty break, barely touches black. Rinse, repeat.

Vanimal46 Old-Timey Member Posted October 26, 2016 Posted October 26, 2016 If that's the last inning we see for Kluber that's a hell of a WS debut.
Brock Beauchamp Site Manager Posted October 26, 2016 Posted October 26, 2016 If that's the last inning we see for Kluber that's a hell of a WS debut. You have to leave him out there for one more inning, right? It's only game one but damn. The bullpen won't be better.

Vanimal46 Old-Timey Member Posted October 26, 2016 Posted October 26, 2016 6:00 CT game start tomorrow? Beautiful. We can all put our dentures in the glass at a reasonable time.

Brock Beauchamp Site Manager Posted October 26, 2016 Posted October 26, 2016 Because he gave up a duck fart and Schwarber was up next.Uh, yeah, okay. Yay, Francona? He's a good manager but he's one of those guys who has a bit too much managin' to do too much of the time.

I'm not sure I disagree with the move myself, though it's starting to look bad.
Brock Beauchamp Site Manager Posted October 26, 2016 Posted October 26, 2016 Damn, the Cubs got lucky there. Guys on both first and second were gimme outs.
