Twinsbar107 Verified Member Posted May 18, 2016 Posted May 18, 2016 After next year big Pelf will have made $31,000,000 over five years with the Twins and Tigers.#bargain?
LaBombo Verified Member Posted May 18, 2016 Posted May 18, 2016 Okay, going for Double Jeopardy where the scores can really change.I see trees of green, red roses tooI see them bloom for me and youAnd I say to myselfWhat wonderful world It was 1967, and, being an avid Twins fan, the great Satchmo had a lot to be happy about that year. The Twins played brilliantly, winning 91 games and finishing just one game behind the AL pennant winning BoSox. Harm socked 44 homers, Rod Carew was AL Rookie of the Year, and dizzy Dean Chance won 20 games. Actually, I have no idea if Louis Armstrong was a Twins fan; probably not. But 91 wins would be song-worthy relative to this Twins squad.
Twinsbar107 Verified Member Posted May 18, 2016 Posted May 18, 2016 Good thing he sits on our bench most days.... who needs hitting and fielding gems
jimbo92107 Verified Member Posted May 18, 2016 Posted May 18, 2016 So, I hear Polanco doesn't have the arm to play shortstop...
sampleSizeOfOne Verified Member Posted May 18, 2016 Posted May 18, 2016 Circus Boy update: I don't think i have jinxed us... yet.

Thrylos Old-Timey Member Posted May 18, 2016 Posted May 18, 2016 Guess Jorge Polanco does not have what it takes to be an MLB Shortstop.
Hosken Bombo Disco Community Moderator Posted May 18, 2016 Posted May 18, 2016 "And we head to the top of the third, in this pitcher's duel." Really, Dick?lol
David HK Verified Member Posted May 18, 2016 Posted May 18, 2016 Hi gang- Wow, I just got the Russian baseball stream up in time to see that last play at short- Who the heck is THAT guy, I thought. Oh. Polanco. He's not in his usual spot on the pine today, how nice. What a pick and throw===========
Platoon Verified Member Posted May 18, 2016 Posted May 18, 2016 That year had a heart breaking ending. Maybe the worst in team history.
LaBombo Verified Member Posted May 18, 2016 Posted May 18, 2016 #bargain? Implying high value per dollar spent, or...? http://www.libreriaalberti.com/static/img/portadas/_visd_0000JPG01BBX.jpg
David HK Verified Member Posted May 18, 2016 Posted May 18, 2016 Now, I'm thinking I got here just in time to see the boys eat Pelf alive-- let's go, guys. Our turn for an 8-run inning.
Hosken Bombo Disco Community Moderator Posted May 18, 2016 Posted May 18, 2016 ditto for me on the Polanco bashing he can't hit either SARCASM!
Blake Verified Member Posted May 18, 2016 Posted May 18, 2016 At the rate Pelfrey is pitching, I'm going to be able to finish "War and Peace."
Shane Wahl Verified Member Posted May 18, 2016 Posted May 18, 2016 So, I hear Polanco doesn't have the arm to play shortstop... Not even Florimon makes that play. That was great.
Platoon Verified Member Posted May 18, 2016 Posted May 18, 2016 Baseball is really a funny game, both pitchers are getting there brains beat in, and its scoreless. Whoops I spoke too soon, Plouffe and Dozier are not into brain beating! )
kusko_andy Verified Member Posted May 18, 2016 Posted May 18, 2016 Now Bert is making fun of his pitcher's duel comment. I have been vindicated. Although there's a point at which it actually does become a duel, I suppose.
LaBombo Verified Member Posted May 18, 2016 Posted May 18, 2016 At the rate Pelfrey is pitching, I'm going to be able to finish "War and Peace." That off season trip to the Steve Trachsel Pitching Academy really paid off. But hey, a guy with a career ERA+ of 98 and a FIP of 4.84 can take as long as he wants between pitches, because talent. Edit : HRD, not Pelfrey's numbers. Don't have the stomach to look those up.
Platoon Verified Member Posted May 18, 2016 Posted May 18, 2016 I realize Polanco's seems to have too many errors, and there have always been questions about arm strength, but that is the type of athletiscm I would like to see in the Twins regular shortstop. There's something to be said for making the common plays regularly, but there's also a lot to be said for stealing hits like that one.

I was going to take the easy way out with John Lennon's Imagine, but that seemed lame. I choose Burl Ives "Big Rock Candy Mountain" instead. Audio included. Oh the buzzin' of the bees in the cigarette treesThe soda water fountain where the lemonade springsAnd the bluebird sings in that Big Rock Candy MountainOn a summer dayIn the month of MayA burly bum came ahikingDown a shady laneThrough the sugar caneHe was looking for his likingAs he strolled alongHe sang a songOf the land of milk and honeyWhere a bum can stayFor many a dayAnd he won't need any moneyOh the buzzin' of the bees in the cigarette treesThe soda water fountain where the lemonade springsAnd the bluebird sings in that Big Rock Candy MountainIn the Big Rock Candy MountainThe cops have wooden legsThe bulldogs all have rubber teethAnd the hens lay soft-boiled eggsThe farmers' trees are full of fruitThe barns are full of hayI want to go where there ain't no snowWhere the sleet don't fall and the wind don't blowIn that Big Rock Candy MountainThere's a lake of ginWe can both jump inAnd the handouts grow on bushesIn the new-mown hayWe can sleep all dayAnd the bars all have free lunchesWhere the mail train stopsAnd there ain't no copsAnd the folks are tender-heartedWhere you never change your socksAnd you never throw rocksAnd your hair is never partedOh the buzzin' of the bees in the cigarette treesThe soda water fountain where the lemonade springsAnd the bluebird sings in that Big Rock Candy MountainOh, a farmer and his son,They were on the runTo the hay field they were boundingSaid the bum to the son,"Why don't you comeTo that big rock candy mountain?"So the very next dayThey hiked away,The mileposts they were countingBut they never arrivedAt the lemonade tideOn the big rock candy mountainOh the buzzin' of the bees in the cigarette treesThe soda water fountain where the lemonade springsAnd the bluebird sings in that Big Rock Candy Mountain1. LaBombo Verified Member Posted May 18, 2016 Posted May 18, 2016 Now Bert is making fun of his pitcher's duel comment. I have been vindicated. Although there's a point at which it actually does become a duel, I suppose. You were right the first time. This isn't a pitchers' duel, this is more like what a gentleman's agreement to take it easy on the starters and the pens would look like.
Platoon Verified Member Posted May 18, 2016 Posted May 18, 2016 Not even Florimon makes that play. That was great. Pedro could have kept playing for me, he could really pick em
jimbo92107 Verified Member Posted May 18, 2016 Posted May 18, 2016 Pitcher's duel? More like a pillow fight on a high wire.
Hosken Bombo Disco Community Moderator Posted May 18, 2016 Posted May 18, 2016 Although there's a point at which it actually does become a duel, I suppose.we are not there yet
LaBombo Verified Member Posted May 18, 2016 Posted May 18, 2016 Pedro could have kept playing for me, he could really pick em Watching him bat was like watching an otter play the French horn.
Thrylos Old-Timey Member Posted May 18, 2016 Posted May 18, 2016 Is it anti-Canada of me to think that Mike Pelfrey looks and plays baseball like a big wuss because he's from Canada? Yes, unless Ohio seceded and joined Canada
LaBombo Verified Member Posted May 18, 2016 Posted May 18, 2016 Is it anti-Canada of me to think that Mike Pelfrey looks and plays baseball like a big wuss because he's from Canada? Yes, and why are you saying that like it's a bad thing?
kusko_andy Verified Member Posted May 18, 2016 Posted May 18, 2016 Yes, and why are you saying that like it's a bad thing? I just wish he was from Canada. He looks so soft, like a pansy.
Platoon Verified Member Posted May 18, 2016 Posted May 18, 2016 I was hoping Santana got on again, I poured a new driveway during the last at bat, and I need to float it once more.
