as of it wasn't hard enough to be a Twins fan, this seems particularly painful.

 

I was completely saddened when the team I hate the Most... The White Sox...  acquired one of my favorite non-Twin baseball players. 

 

Brett Lawrie... One of your Canuck brethren. 

 

And they are playing him at 2B!!!

Brooks wouldn't even be the best defensive third baseman on the O's.

That's strange and you could definitely be right. But I guarantee you, the Hoover Vacuum Cleaners that are made today, are cheap and not durable compared to the ones made from the 1950's - 1970's.

I sometimes wonder, though, was defense just as good then and we didn't know it because we got much fewer games, saw way fewer highlights, etc?  I mean, we had the game of the week and Braves games on TBS.  Way less exposure to what was going on around the league.

 

I don't think so... Roy Smalley was standard for a SS back then. Cal Ripken... Alan Trammell. Good Glove Guys but nothing flashy.

 

The Dominicans hadn't arrived full force yet to set the new standard.

I think Ozzie is thought of that way because he was the only one doing that stuff in the 70's. He stood out... there was nobody in the same room as Ozzie.
