What's up Twins Daily! This is coming at you from a Madison, WI hotel room. Unfortunately, I have a funeral to attend for a 35-year-old mother of 2 this morning which will be quite the sad event. Along with that, I won't be able to post the lineups when they come in, so I hope someone else can put that down in the comments. Thanks in advance.

This all being said, we need some rays of light today. I hardly would suggest that a baseball result would make us all feel better, but maybe it's a small piece of a lot of other positivity. Right? Right.

So we need a win today. Let's talk about how we're going to get that done.

1. Tanner Roark

Oh Tanner Roark, who are you? You're not a strikeout guy, but you had some tasty stuff in your first 1.5 seasons in a Nats uniform. WHIP close to 1, good peripherals....the Nats had their next solid top-to-mid rotation guy. Then, inexplicably, they jerked you around in 2015 between the rotation and the 'pen, rendering you virtually useless in all rotisserie formats (I'm just guessing....). It seems to have had an effect. You're much more hittable now, and (SSS alert) you've started 2016 letting everyone on base. Wouldn't be shocking at all to see new special assistant to the GM Ron Gardenhire earn a base on balls today. Don't let the relatively low ERA fool you - this is a hittable guy. Lest we forget, even our own lovable Twins tagged Roark for 7 hits and 3 runs in 4 innings during the first of two exhibition games in the District earlier this month.

2. Phil Hughes

We've had some encouraging signs with Hughes thus far. Sure, he's given up the two moonshots, but he's been missing bats and getting plenty of Ks. So while he hasn't been the greatest run preventer so far (ERA 4.42) the peripherals are telling us that this is closer to the 2014 version of Hughes than the 2015. And it's not like the Nats have anyone who can put the ball in the seats seemingly on a whim.....uh-oh.

Well, let's take it one batter at a time. If Hughes can avoid trouble and pitch carefully to Harper, we could be looking at a solid start today.

3. Joe Mauer's Cool New Glasses

Did you read Berardino's article from yesterday? Go ahead, give it a read, I'll wait....

....Isn't that cool? Mauer looks like Mauer - maybe an older, post-peak Mauer....but nothing like the version we saw last year.

And Buxton's using them too! It's only a matter of time before we have an army of Joe Mauers.....better buy more milk, Twins.

Anyway, that's all I got today. I'll be able to listen to roughly the second half of the game, so hopefully by then we're coasting on a 5-zip lead. Cheer 'em on, Twins fans.

Those strobe glasses sound quite interesting. I wonder why they were discontinued?

Condolences for your loss. Always sad to lose someone in their prime.

Per Lavelle:

BREAKING: Ervin Santana has a stiff back and will miss his start tomorrow. Tyler Duffey will be called up to start in his place.

Shoot, I would like to see Meyer. I guess Duffey coming up is due to rotation location?

A quick dose of Stanozolol should clear that right up.

Meyer has had two starts in Rochester... and was in the bullpen for most of 2015. I think he's gonna need more time starting before he can be considered for a call-up.

By the way, son Ashburysteven is attending today's game, I am told. Wave to us if the camera is on you!

It will take a HUGE change in direction for management to leave Sano at 3rd.

Molitor said before game that Sano would return to right field. i hope he doesn't. Also Molitor mentioned it to Sano last week, I have heard of no practicing at third....

All of a sudden it looks like they're sending Duffey in to a real buzzsaw situation tomorrow.

Again.  Starting him against the Blue Jays last year was leading a lamb to slaughter....
