Squirrel Community Moderator Posted October 18, 2015 Posted October 18, 2015 And so it begins ... Murphy! Man ... that guy has the number of every ace in these playoffs so far! Homer off Lester to get it started in the bottom of the 1st.
Hrbowski Verified Member Posted October 18, 2015 Posted October 18, 2015 Harvey has some of the best pitchability in the big leagues.
Squirrel Community Moderator Posted October 18, 2015 Author Posted October 18, 2015 Huge win for the Mets tonight. The Cubs need two wins from Lester and they dropped one.
DaveW Old-Timey Member Posted October 18, 2015 Posted October 18, 2015 LOVE IT. Will be in Chicago Thursday night near Wrigleyville, hopefully the Cubs lose in 5 that night and I get a front row seat to see the city burn.
Squirrel Community Moderator Posted October 18, 2015 Author Posted October 18, 2015 omg ... you couldn't pay me to be anywhere near that area, win or lose ... it is NOT a great area hey! if you are in town you could buy me those drinks!
Squirrel Community Moderator Posted October 19, 2015 Author Posted October 19, 2015 Wow! Murphy again! He is just THE killer to every team's best pitchers. The Cubs can't win if they don't get wins from Lester and Arrieta. After 1, the Cubs are in the hole 3-0. cbu.
Squirrel Community Moderator Posted October 19, 2015 Author Posted October 19, 2015 And the Cubs are 0-2 now.
DaveW Old-Timey Member Posted October 19, 2015 Posted October 19, 2015 Oh man, I can't WAIT for the city to burn to the ground, hopefully the Cubs can win one game so I can witness in person.
Vanimal46 Old-Timey Member Posted October 21, 2015 Posted October 21, 2015 Murphy's next contract is inflating with every at bat he has... Which team is taking the bait? Over/under 1 year until we read his name in an article titled "MLB's Worst Contracts"
Hosken Bombo Disco Community Moderator Posted October 21, 2015 Posted October 21, 2015 Nice trifecta of errors in the top of 7th by the Cubbies big three: Bryant, Schwarber, Rizzo. None of which will show up in the box score.
Hosken Bombo Disco Community Moderator Posted October 21, 2015 Posted October 21, 2015 Also, Travis d'Arnaud is a master pitch framer
biggentleben Verified Member Posted October 21, 2015 Posted October 21, 2015 Also, Travis d'Arnaud is a master pitch framer "Presenter" is the term everyone in baseball media is now going with for some dumb reason...
Hosken Bombo Disco Community Moderator Posted October 21, 2015 Posted October 21, 2015 Also, Travis d'Arnaud is a master pitch framer Also, Travis d'Arnaud is a master pitch presenterFixed. But seriously, that full count called strike to Denorfia was a thing of beauty. Clippard's fastball was a little low but d'Arnaud practically snow-coned it in his catcher mitt webbing and then with a twist of the wrist BOOM it's a pitch right at the knees.
D. Hocking Verified Member Posted October 21, 2015 Posted October 21, 2015 Starting to look like this year is probably not the year for the Cubs to return to the World Series. I predict they will make it next year only to lose a close series in game 7 to the Minnesota Twins.
Squirrel Community Moderator Posted October 21, 2015 Author Posted October 21, 2015 Cubs' fans mantra ... there's always next year! Does this mean King Theo gets demoted to Prince?
Squirrel Community Moderator Posted October 21, 2015 Author Posted October 21, 2015 Oh man, I can't WAIT for the city to burn to the ground, hopefully the Cubs can win one game so I can witness in person.I really hope you aren't going anywhere near Wrigleyville ... it would not be safe for you there.
ashbury Verified Member Posted October 21, 2015 Posted October 21, 2015 Clippard's fastball was a little low but d'Arnaud practically snow-coned it in his catcher mitt webbingSounds like a technique that would make a catcher a little vulnerable to the passed ball. And when I looked, sure enough, he led the league in passed balls with 12. In 2014. Whereas this season he had only 1. Somehow he's found the magic combination.
Squirrel Community Moderator Posted October 22, 2015 Author Posted October 22, 2015 Another nail in the coffin ... not sure how many nails it takes, but ... Mets are up 4-0 early.
Squirrel Community Moderator Posted October 22, 2015 Author Posted October 22, 2015 Wow! And Murphy did it again! Has homered in 6 straight post-season games! Not that it matters much as the Mets have the Cubs over a barrel ... 8-1Mets in the top of the 8th.
twinsnorth49 Old-Timey Member Posted October 22, 2015 Posted October 22, 2015 Chi, you inside? Have your riot gear ready?

biggentleben Verified Member Posted October 22, 2015 Posted October 22, 2015 If anybody who lives in Chicago wants a really scary Halloween costume he or she can dress up as Daniel Murphy. Anyone who is gay, lesbian, bi, or trans would be the ones making the person in the Murphy costume fearful for his/her own safety. Not many players get support from Westboro Baptist Church. Daniel Murphy does, and I don't think that's a badge of pride to wear.
Squirrel Community Moderator Posted October 22, 2015 Author Posted October 22, 2015 Bottom of the 9th and the final nail is all but nailed down … Cubs need a miracle; Mets up 8-3.
Squirrel Community Moderator Posted October 22, 2015 Author Posted October 22, 2015 And the Mets are on their way to the WS. Buh bye, Chicago … as the Cubs' fans mantra goes … next year!
biggentleben Verified Member Posted October 22, 2015 Posted October 22, 2015 I know it's the unpopular opinion in this thread, but it's sad to see the Cubs out. I'm a baseball fan because of a wonderful woman who lived and died for her Cubbies. The team has done a very solid job with their rebuild, and they'll be around for a while with that squad. Nevermind that this means that the hated Mets are in the World Series.
USAFChief Twins Daily Contributor Posted October 22, 2015 Posted October 22, 2015 Congrats Mets. 52-50 at one point this season.

biggentleben Verified Member Posted October 22, 2015 Posted October 22, 2015 Congrats Mets. 52-50 at one point this season. After their halfway point, the Braves were ahead of the Mets (who hadn't played as many games, they had a better record at their halfway point). The Braves are picking #3, the Mets are going to the World Series. Baseball.
