Riverbrian Old-Timey Member Posted August 14, 2015 Posted August 14, 2015 The Twins really seem to be a different team at home. They were Ervin Santana away from sweeping the Rangers. I'm sorry for the Santana cheap shot but it's kinda true. 5-0 lead couldn't be held as Santana turns in another 'low strikeout and lots of runs allowed' performance. Santana has been bad start after bad start lately and I won't be surprised to see him take a little DL stint to fix whatever it is. And if Doctors say it isn't anything... put him on the DL anyway with Meatballitis. For those without medical degrees, Meatballitis means inflammation of the Meat Balls. The Twins will have to duct tape their way through this weekend on the mound. Including a 50 pitch limit start for Trevor May tonight followed by our favorite episode of the Bullpen!!!That tearing sound you hear is duct tape being used. Here are some things to think about: 1. The Indians Again -- Last weekend in Cleveland... this weekend in Minnesota. The venue has changed but the words must be uttered like Pakistani officials looking at activity in Kashmir. The Indians again!!! If memory serves... I believe our 13-man pitching staff crashed and burned in Cleveland. (Who remembers? It was such a long time ago.) That rotation of starters is finding it's way to the DL now and duct tape is being used to put together a replacement rotation.2. Duct Tape -- Trevor May back in the rotation. Many have been asking for it and he's back. Tyler Duffey getting another chance in the rotation. Many have not been asking for it and he's back. Tommy Milone back in the rotation. Many have forgotten who he was. These are the trio of pitchers who will face the Indians this weekend. When pitchers fall apart like ours did... duct tape can fix it. Broken rotation... duct tape. Need a portable beer holder... the center of a roll of duct tape is perfect; you can wrap presents with duct tape; you can adhere rookies to goal posts with duct tape. Whatever the problem... duct tape can solve it and our Twins SP problem is about to be solved... I SAY OPTIMISTICALLY.3. A closer look -- May will have to be reprogrammed to start. But the Twins are saying that May is back in the rotation so they won't stretch him just to un-stretch him again. Duffey is back and I'm glad... his first start against the Blue Jays may not be an accurate representation of what he can do. Milone… the dude is left-handed.4. Berrios -- Am I coming up? No Way, Jose!!! At least not yet; and it makes sense even though it disappoints a few of you. Let's not burn an option on this guy for a spot start. Give Duffey a chance to get that taste of Blue Jay out of his mouth. It's a spot start for Duffey because the Twins have a 6-man rotation for the next 6 games. In my opinion... Berrios can be considered for a call up after it is determined that Santana also needs to hit the DL and he needs to be told he has an injury.5. Michigan State -- I Went with my son on a tour of Michigan State yesterday. It's a big campus... that was the impression that I got. Much bigger than Mayville State for example. I noticed a big white S on a green background everywhere and it looks like the Hockey rink is buried underground. My son doesn't know what he wants to study yet but engineering is probably what he would choose at gun-point right now. On the way home I stopped at Meijer and bought him some duct tape. Just so he could practice engineering stuff for a head start.--------------------Game-time forecast: 89 deg F, clear and sunny (until sunset), 0% chance of precipitation, winds at 5mph from the W.Lineups:INDIANSRamirez 2BLindor SSGomes CSantana DHJohnson 1BAlmonte CFUrshela 3BChisenhall RFAviles LFKluber PTWINSHicks CFRosario LFMauer 1BSano DHPlouffe 3BHunter RFEscobar 2BSuzuki CNunez SSMay PGo Twins! James Verified Member Posted August 14, 2015 Posted August 14, 2015 Engineering, huh. I did that. It was... rewarding. I'll guess that's a good way to describe it. Got me a good career, but it was a lot of work. Don't let your son get discouraged by the math part of things. Those are the classes that universities use to weed out some people before they get to the cool classes. Also, Win Twins. Riverbrian and glunn 2

Musical interlude: I believe discovered this listening to a Dr. Demento collection i checked out from a local library while driving a fair bit. I then put it on repeat for like the next hour until smoke came out of my ears... Figuratively of course. But it was burned into my memory. Naturally, i don't advocate so drastic a reaction to it, but neither will i say it is entirely wrong. That said, i's lookin' forward to seein' some good baseball. glunn and Riverbrian 2
DRizzo Verified Member Posted August 14, 2015 Posted August 14, 2015 Looks like they moved Boyer to the 15 day DL retroactive to 8/9 and recalled Tonkin from Rochester... They are using duck tape!!! glunn 1
sampleSizeOfOne Verified Member Posted August 14, 2015 Posted August 14, 2015 .... I believe discovered this listening to a Dr. Demento collection.... I take that back... Now that i think of it, i don't believe it was a Dr. Demento collection... I believe it was a music used on Car Talk collection. And it may have well been unique in that collection as the only song not specifically mentioning cars... Thinkin' o' that, i'll dedicate this one from that collection to the remainder of the Twins season. I got a great idea... Let's win out, kinda like that one Rockies season a few years ago... Why didn't i think of this earlier? David HK and JB_Iowa 2

Entry-level engineers, no matter the discipline (civil, electrical, mechanical, etc.) make some dang good money off the bat.... No chance I am smart enough to know how they do their jobs, but it's nice to make money finding better opportunities for them Circus Boy 1

sampleSizeOfOne Verified Member Posted August 15, 2015 Posted August 15, 2015 I always wanted to drive a train. I once was a train engine for halloween. Does that count? It was on one side abstract (i wore one of them blue and white striped engineer hats), yet on another as realistic as i could be (someone familiar with the source burst out laughing from across the room) Gibby 1

sampleSizeOfOne Verified Member Posted August 15, 2015 Posted August 15, 2015 Why can't the ball carry like that for us?
S. Verified Member Posted August 15, 2015 Posted August 15, 2015 The ol' fair territory, pop fly triple. Classic baseball fundamentals right there. Also, I'm not sure why Suzuki even bothers trying to throw out runners. He's like a little league catcher - if the runner is even moderately fast its a free steal.
