jimmer Verified Member Posted July 31, 2015 Posted July 31, 2015 (edited) When they walked Hicks to get to Mauer, was it to set up a force at every base so a double play could happen? And Seattle's manager isn't know to be a genius in game move guy Edited July 31, 2015 by jimmer glunn 1

jimmer Verified Member Posted July 31, 2015 Posted July 31, 2015 guy on 2B and no one on 1B, walk Hicks to set up force at 3B, 2B and 1B, and Mauer delivered. Good strategy (regardless of the batter), didn't work out glunn 1

Hosken Bombo Disco Community Moderator Posted July 31, 2015 Posted July 31, 2015 and how did the walking Hicks to get to Mauer strategy work out?Mauer lined a single to center. The CF trapped it but it was a legitimate hit. jimmer 1

jimmer Verified Member Posted July 31, 2015 Posted July 31, 2015 (edited) There were two outs.doesn't matter. Still set up a force at all the bases in case of ground ball the 3rd out could be recorded at any base (excluding home for those who like to call that a base). It was good strategy no matter who the batter is, not an indictment of Mauer. And it didn't work, cause Mauer made him pay anyway. Edited July 31, 2015 by jimmer
