ScottyB Verified Member Posted May 18, 2015 Posted May 18, 2015 What new blood is that? We need names and reasons why. I haven't trusted Duensing with inherited runners in like 3 years. I'm not saying any of these will be better, but they can't be worse and will probably be cheaper. Theilbar, Olivaros, Achter, Dean, Z. Jones all from the organization. And from the outside Soriano (not cheap), Nick Masset, Bruce Chen, Stolmy Pimentel, Kevin Gregg, A Swarzak, (all available) scan the waiver wire.

Otwins Verified Member Posted May 18, 2015 Posted May 18, 2015 How much would Soriano cost? Twins saved money on Santana suspension
Hosken Bombo Disco Community Moderator Posted May 18, 2015 Posted May 18, 2015 Before we send Brian Duensing off to greener pastures ball fields, we should give him a Standing O for this: Article: Brian Duensing: Striking Out Batters, Striking Out Cancer And for this http://i.minus.com/ib0ypl7o56t9HX.gif
gil4 Verified Member Posted May 18, 2015 Posted May 18, 2015 Big fan of Duensing, always have been. After all, he's from the Big Red state and a Cornhusker. We try not to hold that against him. I really thought the money would have been better spent elsewhere and that the Twins overpaid for a marginal reliever.

Rosterman Verified Member Posted May 18, 2015 Posted May 18, 2015 Cut Duensing and bring back Grant Balfour.
Reider Verified Member Posted May 18, 2015 Posted May 18, 2015 This is just an observation so feel free to disagree with me, but I think Duensing is pitching scared. He's trying to nibble at corners, but he's missing by 6 inches or more. It's almost like he has lost all confidence in himself. As a result, he has lost the confidence of some fans too, as evidenced by the comments in this thread. He needs to go after hitters!
gocgo Verified Member Posted May 18, 2015 Posted May 18, 2015 There's no putting lipstick on this pig to pretty it up. Opposing batters are hitting a staggering .429 against Brian Duensing. Duensing has never had either the velocity or the stuff to finish off hitters. His game relies on deception and location to invoke hitters into taking less than stellar cuts. Obviously, at .429 BA, the hitters are taking pretty stellar cuts. Some would point out that he's a lefty, but do we really need a lefty that tees it up to the tune of a 2.74 WHIP? That's brutal even in Little League. So, what do the Twins do? Ride it out and hope it gets better? 15 day DL for the mystery injury? DFA? Trade? I'm guessing that the Twins will ride it out for another couple of weeks before they make a move, but feel free to play GM for a day and work your magic.
twinsnorth49 Old-Timey Member Posted May 19, 2015 Posted May 19, 2015 The Twins are 3 years too late on doing something worthwhile with Duensing. Left/Right is irrelevant, they just need someone who gets outs reliably, and that hasn't been Dunce. Sadly I agree they will try to ride it out before ultimately realizing they need to move on. Not sure what other option they have other than DFA him.
Brandon Warne Verified Member Posted May 21, 2015 Posted May 21, 2015 Should have been non-tendered. Good teams don't take guys like Duensing to ARB3. They trade them when they have value, and move on to guys like Logan Darnell and Edgar Ibarra to keep costs down.
