Rangers lose Profar again

It's a shame and I hope he comes back from this.

I always did think he was overrated though, he never seemed like a #1 kind of prospect to me, probably because his bat didn't look much more than average.  Above average to good power/speed combo, but not elite.  Don't his minor league numbers look like they project to be what Brian Dozier did last year, only at SS?

He seems like a guy who can do quite a few things well, but nothing elite which obviously is a nice kind of player to have.

Maybe someone to look at.  Story had maybe the Rangers would cut ties as he is going to be arbitration eligible before he plays much

I agree. I never understood the extent of the hype. Frequent all-star type, maybe, but not an overall superstar.

I feel horrible for Profar, and yet I also feel bad for the Rangers. They made the unfortunate mistake of calling him up at 19 and now his two missed years is going to mean he'll be a Super-2 after this year with hardly any playing time.

I don't like that Buxton and Sano got hurt for 2014, but at least they weren't accumulating service time at the same time.

Profar has major talent. The Rangers aren't going to dump him. He won't make much in arbitration because he hasn't played. he's still young and has so much potential.

Well, yeah, maybe with a better avg but less HRs. But Dozier was a 5 WAR guy last year and Profar was a lot better defensively.  If he could have stayed healthy, he could have been putting up those kinds of seasons at 21 or 22.  That's easily a #1 prospect.

I disagree.  He was 19 in AA with excellent defense at SS, great BA/OBP with power and speed and the SABR stats that project well.  The only thing that he didn't do was OPS 1.000 at any level like a top prospect would but of course that has a lot to do with being a 19 yr old MI prospect in AA.
