maxisagod Verified Member Posted June 18, 2014 Posted June 18, 2014 If you get it back up and running, invest in Crashplan.com. It's worth the $6 a month to back up your entire HDD off-site. I use Google drive, Apple backup, and a external hard drive. The Apple back up syncs all my devices together, so if one fails it easy to get the info off the other as well as my account thru Apple, I don't think about it, it just does it. Google drive is free up to like 20 GB, but you need to be hooked up to the internet to retrieve or save the info. The external hard drive is a one time buy. the thought of losing data and more importantly family photos, makes me not want to trust any system.
Jeremy Nygaard Twins Daily Contributor Posted June 18, 2014 Posted June 18, 2014 Do we know what Roberto Gonzalez, Gabrial Ojeda and Tyree Davis got? Including what they may have recieved, the Twins seem to have just under a quarter million to throw at some of the tough signs. I checked on this... the source I talked to wasn't 100% sure but didn't think anybody from 11-40 has tapped into the pool money. It sounds like the Twins will make a run at most of the unsigned guys, but admit its hard to tell who would sign.

Google Drive is nice - I also use it for backups - but it's only built to back up folders, not the computer. And should your HDD fail, having a complete back up of the computer will save hours during the restore process.
amjgt Verified Member Posted June 22, 2014 Posted June 22, 2014 The Twins have another $375k they could go over their bonus pool with, bringing their total (with the savings on earlier picks) to about $600k
Seth Stohs Site Manager Posted June 22, 2014 Posted June 22, 2014 So, if they have $375K left to spend, they could sign (potentially): three guys for $200K and one for $175. That would be great!
Otwins Verified Member Posted June 22, 2014 Posted June 22, 2014 The additional 375,000 is the 5% of their total bonus pool that they can spend without losing next years 1st round pick?

Jeremy Nygaard Twins Daily Contributor Posted June 22, 2014 Posted June 22, 2014 Any word on Burdi yet? I thought I read that he'd be undergoing his physical tomorrow.
InfraRen Provisional Member Posted June 22, 2014 Posted June 22, 2014 I thought I read that he'd be undergoing his physical tomorrow. Yup Mike Berardino@MikeBerardinoSource tells me 2nd-rounder Nick Burdi's physical will take place on Sunday or Monday.
Brandon Verified Member Posted June 22, 2014 Posted June 22, 2014 What about our 5th rounder. I here he was signed to a 350k contract but Brock hasn't updated the first post to show that yet?
positive1 Provisional Member Posted June 23, 2014 Posted June 23, 2014 Pretty sure Reed (#5) signed--pitched today for Elizabethton vs. Pulaski... plus he's on the Twins draft roster page as signing on 06/18/2014. 350k according to Bollinger. Officially a Minnesota twin. Blessed to have this oppurtunity to start my career with such a great organization pic.twitter.com/QqDxLIgakb — JAKE REED (@JakeyReed5) June 18, 2014
Major League Ready Verified Member Posted June 23, 2014 Posted June 23, 2014 Any word as to the delay with Burdi?
Jeremy Nygaard Twins Daily Contributor Posted June 23, 2014 Posted June 23, 2014 Burdi flew in last night.
Brock Beauchamp Site Manager Posted June 23, 2014 Author Posted June 23, 2014 Reed added to the list. Only missing Burdi and Curtiss at this point.

zenser Verified Member Posted June 23, 2014 Posted June 23, 2014 What is a realistic time table for Burdi? I have heard that he could step into a bullpen role soon and I have also heard that they will need to work on his control.
Mike Sixel Old-Timey Member Posted June 23, 2014 Posted June 23, 2014 Well, some experts believe he should start in AA, and be here this fall or next year (while his arm is healthy and strong). Others believe he should "earn" his way up through the ladder. I'd guess the Twins send him to one of the A level teams, and he maybe makes AA by the end of the year. IMO, the Twins love veteran relievers. He'll have to really dominate to replace the guys that have "proved" it at the MLB leve.
Seth Stohs Site Manager Posted June 23, 2014 Posted June 23, 2014 I'm hoping he starts in Cedar Rapids... this week (mainly because I'll be there Friday through Sunday).

righty8383 Verified Member Posted June 24, 2014 Posted June 24, 2014 I'm usually not one to complain about this sort of thing, But Burdi should be starting in high A or higher. This is a guy that some scouts think could pitch in bigs right now. Why start him 4 levels away?

This is a guy that some scouts think could pitch in bigs right now. Why start him 4 levels away? Well, Rob Antony said a couple weeks ago that he had a chance to make it CR this year. So this is progress from there, I guess. I'd start him at FM, personally, but he could be there soon anyway.

On the flip side you can now make a caravan down to cedar rapids to watch him pitch sooner rather than later.
Thrylos Old-Timey Member Posted June 24, 2014 Posted June 24, 2014 And he's going to begin by reporting to Cedar Rapids on Friday! Woo hoo! Ridiculous. Best RHRP in the organization (and I include the MLB arms in this assessment) He belongs at least at Fort Myers. Looks like the Twins saved about $200K total now. Maybe they will try to entice one of the late rounders...
