one of my nieces graduates from high school on saturday; and i'm making some cookies (my famous mocha cookies) for the open house. Also am bringing a tin of garrett's caramel crisp popcorn.

Still lots work to do. but if we could steal a win here, it would really mean something. Great comeback in the 9th started by the new guy, against a good team.

How can an MLB player not put down a bunt? He even stabbed at it like some of my junior high kids do. All you have to do is let the ball hit the bat.

 

If you can't tell it annoys the heck out of me when guys can't put a bunt down.

I can't think of an easier relief pitcher to bunt on than Guerrier. Still Gose couldn't get the bunt down. I thought Gardy would turn Reyes into a RH hitter, but no such luck. Of course, the other part of the equation is that the pinch runner is a catcher, so it is doubtful they will try to steal or hit and run.

Typically it's because they were all superstars in high school and therefore never asked to bunt.

I agree with that. Still, they have had to have been taught how to bunt, and with all that talent it shouldn't be difficult to let the ball hit the bat. Fundamentals!

You might be on to something. Good bunters seem to all have pretty much the same technique. But bad ones each seem to have their very own special way of not getting the bunt down.
