Bartlett on the DL

I could've sworn that you have to be legitimately injured to be on the DL, unlike the NFL where they'll put you on IR for no reason than to make room for somebody else.

Well there is the very real possibility that Bartlett is and has been in fact injured....

They saw some sort of value in putting him on the club as the 25th guy. It's hard to see them thinking his value in that role has changed in less than a week, so you can't see them cutting him.

Either way, he gets to keep drawing an MLB paycheck... so you can't envision Bartlett complaining about any unspoken arrangement if it does exist.

With some of those dives in the outfield it's a distinct possibility.

In the NBA its the lower leg contusion...

In any event, now Pinto is free to DH further against lefties when Kubel can sit. Hope Aaron has his running shoes on because he has a lot of area to cover.

Players are diagnosed by team doctors. As far as I know, there are no independent MLB doctors.

If Bartlett has in fact been injured, this would be similar to the Mastroianni situation at the beginning of last year.

The "Bartlett was a mistake, but he deserves a graceful exit" angle makes the Twins look better by comparison.

Yup ... I won't doubt it because I don't know ... so, in my book, not suspicious, but have to say it is convenient (not to trivialize the injury in the least)

I hadn't heard a single statement from anyone that Bartlett has been injured.

Are you sure? That stray knock at the front door may have been Rob Antony bearing the information. ;)

According the the Twins Website Bartlett sprained his ankle sliding home in the 6th inning yesterday.

I believe the full quote at the Twins official website is, "Bartlett... sprained his ankle... sliding home in the 6th inning yesterday... yeah, that's the ticket!"

I don't know how he changed direction on that ball off the wall without spraining an ankle. Say what you want about misjudging it and getting too close to that wall, but he certainly hustled on that play.

Should be interesting to see where we go next. If Willy or Arcia have to hit the DL, I'd expect Mastro to be added to 40 man and called, what do you guys think?

Both have had good medical reports today. But if needed, I'd say Mastro is the first one up.

You can't even blame Bartlett for his ineptness because Gardenhire and Ryan/Antony put him in a position where he could not succeed. I'm not sure there is a scenario in which Bartlett would be successful at this point but it definitely is not as a backup to several positions he's never played before.

Bartlett said he hurt his ankle sliding into home, not out in the field. Did you see the slide?
