  1. Both Jax and Duran pitched 3 days in a row a week or two ago. It did seem to effect their performance negatively IMO.
  2. The saint job is to prepare MLB players, not to win.
  3. My point here (double point, lol) is just take a look at Ober. Middling prospect from a small college with a large, projectable frame. Throws 88. Send him through a program that extracts any velocity and or spin rate that is possible from this athlete so they can complete successfully at the highest level. Run em out there. They break down. Why are you surprised? Did this happen in the past? Why are outcomes different than the past?
  4. How about last year when Duran was coming off a year of injuries and only pitched 16 innings the year before. Send him out as a starter for one fiddy?
  5. How about last year when Duran was coming off a year of injuries and only pitched 16 innings the year before. Send him out as a starter for one fiddy?
  6. There is much info out there that lays out logical reasons why they might be burning out.
  7. A catcher who can also DH? Jeffers is looking really good right now with 3 more years of control. I did not see this coming. You have to give Conger some credit as a very valuable member of the coaching staff. Good with the catchers, really good in the clubhouse and perfect for the very social 1st base coach job.
  8. To the OP, I'm very happy with Pablo and even happier with the extension. Just a thought, when evaluating a trade, wouldn't it be best to just judge it at the time of the trade? What happens later is impacted by many factors including luck and can not be known at the time of the trade. In some ways the final outcome of the trade is out of the realm of control of those that made the trade. Then you have Pablo's extension, should that be factored in? It is interesting to keep track of these trades over time, but maybe judging the trader based on things out of their control is unwise. Just look at AJ Pierzinski who became Francisco Liriano (and Joe Nathan and Boof B!) who became Eduardo Escobar who became Jhoan Duran. As AJ said recently on a podcast, he is the gift that keeps on giving to the Twins. If you are going to judge a trade on final outcomes, the AJ trade is still not decided after the player that forced that trade enters the Twins Hall of Fame, lol.
  9. When Joe comes back I would have Dallas pitch for Bailey next. He is in uncharted waters for innings pitched in a season from here on out. Might be able to recharge him. Maybe not though, he just might not have much left this year. Maybe Rocco's talking tablet or prophetic spreadsheet will have the answer, lol.
  10. When the Kitties signed him to that deal I thought he was one we let get away
  11. The thing that makes me doubt this is how well he hit in spring training with said injury.
  12. Seriously Gallo is single handedly calling into question the validity of many statistics, lol.
  13. Maybe Rocco's talking tablet has the answer
  14. It is crazy how the worm has turned. Used to be the talk was about how much better the Twins record was with Buxton in the lineup. This year it seems to have flipped. He must not be healthy enough to perform as in the past. Yet the team is about as forthcoming with information as the most paranoid NFL regimes, lol. To be fair they may or may not know what the future holds for Buxton's knee or other issues. It surely is looking like a chronic problem. At this point then they would have to operate with a focus on getting the most value from him over the term of his contact with less regards to short term value. So if that means shutting him down for another procedure then you do that. If the problem can't be fixed, the only option is to see if there is a way he can contribute with a change in playing style or position etc. Sadly with his performance as a DH only, this may not work. Eventually this mystery will unfold, but I would not be surprised if we were still relegated to mere speculation as the season opens next year.
  15. Agreed. This team could easily reach 90 wins. That would exceed preseason projections.
  16. Polo has two club options remaining and Kepler one. These were considered very team friendly deals when signed especially Polo's.
  17. Gallo does more than any other player to discredit OPS as a stat.
  18. Boras might have had something to do with this signing, but what about Levine? He is the one who probably pushed for this. This organization is tough to read. Levine is the GM, correct? How come we never hear from him? It seems Falvey is out front leading this org. I am confused on what Levine's actual role is. It is hard to watch Joey. I feel bad for the guy, but he has made some great money, time for the tough decision.
  19. Falvey sure acts like the GM. At first when Derek was real green, Levine was more front and center. Now we hardly hear from him. I would love a breakdown of the organizational structure, management through the coaches. Or is it all collaborative, lol.
  20. When it comes to bringing the enthusiasm, Peter does not disappoint, lol!!!!
  21. I gotta admit I joined in on giving up on Max Kepler. If he keeps this up that $10m club option is looking pretty good. What originally looked like a team friendly deal becomes one again. Who can explain this turn around? I'm all ears. Max has all the tools to be this very valuable player. Can he keep it up? Will he and his buddy Polo be here next year? Polo volunteering for 3rd base speaks volumes for his mindset. Kep is harder to read.
