  1. Agreed. I think for a Dozier caliber player you'd have to package top prospects to get a true #1-2 pitcher. Otherwise you're rolling the dice in another Span-Meyer style move. With Berrios, Jay, Gonsalves, Thorp, and more in the system now I'm not sure that's a risk worth taking.
  2. How quickly we forgot how bad the offense was for those first 75 games this season. Though Dozier was part of that, obviously. I'm not convinced offense is an area of strength.
  3. August trades don't yield enough to trade legit starters. Don't even consider it 'til the offseason, other than maybe getting talks started.
  4. He can fight for that 200 AB/year 24th or 25th man role. If he doesn't make: so long and thank you, good luck on the waiver wire. Here's sort of a Shane Robinson position, but leaning offensively instead of defensively.
  5. I'm open to 4 years of Ramos. Year 4 won't get it's cost value, but no FA contract does.
  6. I'd like to see if Suzuki can throw out one base stealer the rest of this season before I consider resigning him.
  7. The only thing a non-deadline trade of Suzuki means is that his value is low. No surprise there.
  8. I've tried to be patient with Molitor but I really don't have a response to DH.
  9. It's a fine line between logjam and depth. That said, I'm 50/50 on a trade of Dozier, but not purely for the sake of making a trade.
  10. I expect him to play close to as often as Nunez, primarily at SS for the remainder of the season. Escobar taking the rest of the positions in relief. Then in the offseason, we have the annual "who is the starting SS" discussion. Anoint a starter, swap him out by May for the other guy. Why do I think this? I just feels like they've decided Escobar is a utility guy (again). Which is always subject to change. That, and 2B and 3B are already stocked. Depth is good. Hamstrings pull every day.
  11. I want to agree, but agents and other major sports show clear evidence that it can happen. What about Appel not signing 4 years ago, or Bo Jackson or Eli Manning in NFL. It's only a matter of time, given the money involved.
  12. I'd say even then. What happens if the player doesn't sign because he doesn't like what he's seen?
  13. I'm opposed to tanking in all sports. Wrong message to send, besides the bad product on the field. Plus, with the unpredictability of baseball drafts, it just seems silly.
  14. Interesting just that so few regulars have even played enough to qualify.
  15. I think you're overthinking it too, but this year is beyond odd. I get letting Arcia or John Hicks go (for different reasons). But the circumstances and timing of so many decisions have been bizarre. Darin Mastrionni, who was so fun to watch on the bases 4 years ago, shouldn't have been in AAA not to mention MLB. Just three of many examples that just don't make sense. But the product on the field doesn't make sense either for the first 3 months, which tends to cause these boulders to tumble.
  16. Reminds me a lot of Todd Helton's contract in COL.
  17. Who needs statistics when we can suggest that his wife or children are to blame or that he's faking injuries? I think his decline is because he doesn't drink enough nerve tonic, obviously.
  18. Nearly everything said at any press conference or press statement, ever, is lip service. News doesn't happen at events scheduled by PR, it gets spun at them after it already happened.
  19. Tough call on a couple trades. Nunez and Kintzler are cheap and controllable, and E Santana could be useful to the team still. Plouffe and Suzuki have no future in MN. Is Abad controlled after this year?
  20. Except it would never happen because, NFL style, 75% of them would sit it out for surgery or to see their kids or whatever.
  21. The season finally gets interesting and we have to take a 4 day break.
  22. The Hall of Fame is for lifetime achievement. The All Star game is for the single season.
  23. Agree with everyone above. Based on your stats included, I definitely think Mays was a solid AS in 2001, for example.
  24. That makes it even tougher. I'm starting to think his performance is real, given his bat in 2015 being solid as well. But on this team, trade him if it's a real offer, keep him if it's pittance. He's got hustle, skip.
