  1. My only complaint on the 4-man bench here is no true defensive outfielder or potential pinch runner. But I can live with that until the post-season when you drop a couple of pitchers. I like this versatility too.
  2. I don't think there's a sports franchise in the country where the average fan likes the GM. It's like complaining about referees, umpires, head coach, etc. It's just an easy/broad target for people to vent at the water cooler. I'm pretty sure attendance is always fairly low before school lets out, and this year's weather isn't helping.
  3. I agree in normal circumstances. But I expect caution with Pineda given his history. He's not just some pitcher coming off TJ surgery. He's a pitcher who has barely ever pitched a full season without a trip to the IL.
  4. Isn't he on an innings limit for the year anyway, or was that just to start the season. He hasn't pitched 150 in...I'm not going to look, but over 2 years. Or maybe they don't care if they push him since he's a free agent anyway.
  5. This guy is available https://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2019/03/outrighted-duensing-wilkerson-okert.html
  6. This is 100% not scientific, but I feel like the Cardinals have also had a lot more blown out arms in recent years that the Twins.
  7. .270 is practically a batting champ in the launch angle era. I'd be happy with .240-250 (and really happy with .270).
  8. (And Buxton is back to .250)
  9. Who gets the 9th: Garver or Marwin?
  10. With Perez in the rotation, they really don't have a long 3+ inning arm, do they? Magill might've done it a couple of times last year.
  11. I'm starting to think Mejia will clear waivers. Though I'd still drop Magill first.
  12. They kept saying Morrison would right the ship last year too. Or, in years past, I heard that constantly about Rondell White. But Marwin is different. He was signed as depth instead of as a savior free agent. He'll get fewer AB when Sano returns. Crisis averted. If he gets hot, they'll get him in the lineup when it happens.
  13. Wait, they drafted a long snapper? Has that...ever happened? I think they need an upgrade as all things special teams have gone downhill since Loeffler was let go, but I'm still kind of shocked.
  14. I like what I see right now. I also view him as a placeholder. With Polanco locked up, I don't think you tie down both middle infield spots considering that there are 3 1st round SS's developing in the minors.
  15. The question not asked above: Does Kimbrel want to be a Twin? If the answer is no, none of this matters.
  16. I still can't wrap my head around Molitor putting him in the 3-hole.
  17. Tony Fiore had a really good year once. Fingers crossed.
  18. Plus, he's only ~40 IP removed from TJ surgery.
  19. That's when another pitcher who is mysteriously struggling will hit the IL with a blister.
  20. I don't think it's either of those things. I think they just view the last bullpen roster spot as a rotation of fresh arms instead of keeping one fringe player up and having a dead, unavailable arm twice each week.
  21. I'd hardly call something that's happened a half dozen times out of thousands of minor leaguers "the new norm." I'd say no to this, but that's based on how the old regime operated. I honestly don't think it makes any sense to lock up a player before their arb years.
  22. The loss isn't fun, but is there a more exciting way to end a game? This isn't a Game 163 Cuddyer situation. It was a close play and perfect execution by Toronto.
  23. A week ago Austudillo was better than Ty Cobb. The Twins signed Gonzalez to be a utility player. They signed Torres as Adrianza insurance. This will work itself out. Absolutely no worries here, except that Sano not getting a full Spring Training may cause some painful rust for everyone. I think he needs a quick start for his confidence and that's even harder without ST.
  24. I didn't follow Odorizzi in Tampa, but I've followed the Twins since (and before) Gibson came up. I'd reverse that description. Gibson has been like this for most of his career, with 2-3 hot streaks in between.
  25. It's a long season. I prefer to watch the A-Team, but keeping everyone sharp is important. I think the fact that most of the bench players have cold bats right now is evidence of why. Hell of a game.
