    I'd rather see 100% robo umps than some of the goofy "time saver" rules proposed for next year. But I also 100% think the human element is essential. Otherwise I might as well just play video game baseball.

    Nah, he can score on a hit in the infield too. I'm bad at embeds on this board, but we've all seen the end of Major League Of course there are times when stealing 3rd is okay, but I'd rather have a runner on 2nd with 1 out than nobody on base with 2 outs. I think the real reason he doesn't have many steals in his career is because he hasn't hit so far. Let's hope it improves this year, as it has so far.

    Why? He can score from 2nd on almost any ball put in play.

    Problems like this always sort themselves out. I'd rather have an "extra" at every position than be one short. 2 of the 3 have options. It might not be a popular clubhouse move, but those options will be used. Part of the modern MLB 25-man roster is that it's really at least 30 deep with a constant rotation of bench options, extra arms, and injury replacements. This isn't a Morneau vs. Mient...Dougie situation where it's league-average vs. all-star. Play the hot hand, balanced with defensive needs (since we're talking C). A year ago we were giving Bobby Wilson 3-4 starts each week. Be thankful and be patient.

    These off days are killing me. The baseball season doesn't have nearly enough games.

    I'm curious about backup OF defense in this game. Both Kepler and Rosario in CF over Cave. Austudillo in LF over Gonzalez. The latter was more surprising to me, especially in a 1 run game.

    How are Twins pitchers comparing to the league average in K/9? I feel like Ks are so rampant in today's game that these stats are almost meaningless.

    Congrats to Harper. As the only bullpen arm with options (I think), I'm guessing he'll ride the shuttle this year.

    Over the past 3 years, most on TD seem to predict Romero as an ace-type. Most scouts have put him as a #4 or a reliever. We have a tendency to get attached to our prospects.

    While I don't think they acted enough on RP, I disagree with the premise that they were relying on Romero magically saving things. In fact, I don't think they're big fans of his given how they used him so far.

    While I think saves are overrated, I'm not opposed to a closer. I just don't think it has to be the best pitcher on the staff. Rodney has made a career of it, and Guardado had a good run. I'm a fan of that philosophy. Basically, find an above average arm with that mysterious personality trait to forget about their bad games quickly and move on. I'm also totally fine with the committee situation at the moment. It'll sort itself out, just like the many other questions on this team.
