    He's the type of player who, if added to the 40, will be the first one cut later. Save that for later in the year when he's truly needed. Not to sit on the bench and pinch run twice a week in May. Is he honestly going to give you more than Bubba Thompson, available on waivers right now for a bag of balls (or Margot)? I'm skeptical. I think he's your typical AAAA CF. There's real value in that depth, and he's worked hard and deserves his cup of coffee, but now isn't the time. Maybe next OF injury...

    Wow, first double of the year. I'm more of a Vasquez supporter than most at TD, but that stat ain't good in late May.

    Is gameday's pitch location accurate? It seems like both pitchers are missing the zone, or throwing down the middle. Is it as windy at TF as it is in S Mpls? I'm curious how that affects pitchers.

    Surprised he's starting in AAA. I thought he might get a long rehab, almost a mini Spring Training. Eh, I guess position players don't need that as much.

    Well, first Lewis has to start rehab. So much can happen before the's back in MLB. But I assume of the following, in no particular order - another IF injury occurs - Farmer is cut - Kiriloff is demoted - Miranda rotates between 3B/1B/DH The only rationale to sending Miranda down would be if they believe he can be a long-term full-time 3B (which seems counter to Lewis on the roster). I don't see it happening unless there is some secret plan to move Lewis to a new position for 2025. Miranda is proving that he can have success while not "playing every day", which is vital for his ability to be a rotational/bench player.

    All 5 you listed are backups at their positions, so this list is hardly revealing. It would at least be helpful to see how many innings they've played at these positions to get an idea of what you're ranking.

    This, 100%. It's just a game and MLB is a for-profit enterprise selling tickets to look at plaques. These players may be currently banned, but the did just fine economically. They just have one less award on their bookshelf than some of their peers. So what?

    Off topic, but every time I see your name I think it says "AI from SoDak" (as in "artificial intelligence") and I giggle. just thought I'd share. I also enjoy the memories here. My collection (now with a nephew) mostly started in depth in '87.

    Before the season, I expected him to be Gordon-like. It seems that he is. He's a serviceable MLB backup right now. I hope he gets better with experience.

    Me neither. Just noting that weird patterns develop. I think, like any young MLB player, he's vulnerable to slumps. It's frustrating, but part of the process.

    Does his slump coincide with playing more LF?

    How many innings does Festa get this year? Is there a realistic chance of accumulating any MLB innings, or more in a spot-start or Sept relief scenario?

    So why does this happen? I think the cold weather angle is lazy and somewhat stereotype based. If the team can't hit in the cold, what about October/November when it REALLY counts? Is modern Spring Training like the NFL Training Camp, aka the players take it too easy and you don't get real action 'til May? Why are they slow to come around? Would love thoughts here. Unlike the NFL, the team still has 130+ games to balance the scales. Personally I love the MLB marathon. But every time they add more postseason games I kind of think they should subtract regular season games elsewhere.

    I hear what you're saying here. Zero idea how I feel. I think the Larnach/Kiriloff rotation at LF has been mildly effective over the past 3 years but it's time for one of them to "make the jump." I think both have the 1st round talent to do so. It's just a question of if it will happen. I hate to site 10+ years ago, but players like Morneau or Cuddyer or Hunter all struggled and then, like a finger snap one day, they got it. I keep hoping for that moment.

    The eternal question is: can he get better? Koskie did. Sano didn't. (But, then again, Sano is back at 3B with LAA.) As a backup, that flexibility is probably essential. To be an everyday player, he needs to hit RHP and LHP and play passable 3B. Long way to go. EIther way, on Rocco's team, he'll get playing time and he'll play a variety of positions.

    What happened with the Jeffers HBP? I'm curious, given when it came in the game. I found it odd that the Twins challenged a tag play late in a blowout shortly before that.

    They'll probably shop him for a frontline SP. Throw in a Duensing and it's a sure thing! But, seriously, I agree with IT above. No such thing as too many good players.

    It takes talent to stick around as a starter in MLB. Kepler has that. Though I would call it a longshot and not a "near-lock" to make the Twins HOF. Unless he has a great October/November this year :)
