  1. Exactly. It's a long season and teams evolve too. The Yankees of April won't be the Yankees of October either. But right now this team, that is perceived on paper to be worse than 1 year ago, has a better W-L record than 1 year ago.
  2. There are a curious amount of articles lately suggesting that the team should get rid of MLB players (and call up players from AAA) at the deadline to get better instead of the traditional angle to trade FOR proven MLB talent. I'm sure it's due to the budget etc, but it's an interesting take. I don't agree, broadly speaking. Except for generational talents like Morneau over Doug M way back. Brooks Lee, perhaps. But he isn't really even blocked at the moment. That one is just a matter of getting minor league AB. We all know he'll be up before September if he stays healthy and keeps performing. But I disagree here for the same reason as other commenters. The defense gets much worse and the outfielders in St. Paul right now don't move the needle for me. I think they would be a step down from Kepler at 2024 skill level.
  3. But they COULD replace Garver. They could have put any other position players at C. Would it have been ugly? Yes. But if a SS is injured and you have no backup SS, you still need to put a body there. Same principle here. SEA took the more practical choice and moved their DH to C, obviously.
  4. That's funny. Because when Garver and the DH were removed, I immediately thought of Gardy for other reasons...
  5. While I wish they'd replaced Gray, I also didn't really think there were good options in the offseason last year. So I don't put it totally on the FO. It was also the wrong market at the wrong time. (Yes, I know it's their job to adapt and plan for that too. I'm just repeating my winter arguments that while I wanted more pitching, I didn't want those pitchers either.)
  6. Yeah, I'll never complain about it after a win. But it's just...not baseball to me, for lack of a better work. I also think do it after 12, or at 12, 15, 18 etc. But every inning is just begging for anti-climatic stuff like this. There's something to be said for a tighter margin of error as the game goes on, I suppose but...nah, I don't like it.
  7. I still hate this extra inning rule. Maybe do the runner, but every 3 extra innings or something. But not every inning. Some of you get worked up by HBP or Farmer or Margot. This topic is my Farmer.
  8. Next move and Goodrum gets his own topic :)
  9. I think people envision Lee (or perhaps Julien) taking 2B and running with it. Then they have Castro+Martin for utility. I've of the opinion that it will work itself out and the FO has a timeline in mind for everything instead of just running with the hot hand like us internet folk.
  10. So who was the roster move for Festa, anyway?
  11. That settles everything. Nobody will pitch the Twins inside again all year now.
  12. Meanwhile, Funderburk continues to pitch like a AAA pitcher.
  13. And Festa. (Sorry, I don't care about that tradition.)
  14. He has a WS ring and a multiyear contract for millions. He'll be okay.
  15. Festa might have to start warming up again.
  16. That seems to be the role Henriquez has on the 40 right now. Interim.
  17. how's this pitcher pronounce his name?
  18. It seems extremely obvious, based on the previous 50 games. Naturally, TD is certain it will be a pitcher with 0 MLB starts this year.
  19. He's got heart, I'll give him that.
