  1. Looking at the previous five years of winners, only Hildenberger is out of the mix. You'd think these guys could win a playoff game.
  2. Advanced stats are great and all, apparently they are not Eddie's friend (which I don't understand completely). Anyway, Eddie hit 32 bombas in 2019 and 13 in a 60 game 2020 season (which projects out to 35 in a complete season). It is going to be 2-3 seasons before a replacement from the farm puts up 30+ home runs. Eddie's defense is better than the detractors point out after looking at the UZR and DRS stats on Fangrapghs. I would keep Eddie on my squad.
  3. That's a warped version of what happened. Romo wasn't lights out, although that inning was good enough to post no runs. That was an awful error by Polanco and never should have happened. Romo pitched good enough to get out of there with no damage by any reasonable expectation. Of the six batters he faced, 5 didn't hit the ball hard and then the walk. There was no excuse for the walk. Romo owned it after the game and took responsibility. If you don't like that Romo isn't a power pitcher that is fine. It doesn't change the fact that 5 of the 6 batters he faced in game one did not make solid contact. He was only replacement level this season and is probably not coming back to the Twins, although I do hope they re-sign him.
  4. Romo wasn't terrible in game one. Two bloopers then Polanco makes a Little League error. No earned runs and he should have been out of the inning with no damage.
  5. I am hopeful. Yet, will believe it when I see it.
  6. With a playoff game on the line in the 9th inning, I want Romo out there. It doesn't seem Rogers gives the Twins much of an advantage.
  7. Isn't 2020 SSS for everyone by definition? 60 games is June 1 in a traditional season.
  8. I just... I can't... Father in Heaven, why would you allow this to happen to the Twins fans of the world? How can anyone predict anything other than a Yankees sweep?
  9. The 'dislike of the White Sox' light bulb clicked on for me during the middle of Tuesday night's game.
  10. They should have had some fun with the whole thing and mixed an outdoor northern stadium into the mix for the World Series. Say, Target Field.
  11. Biebs is Cruz-in' for a bruisin' from Nellie.
  12. Fine defense of Eddie, I agree that we should appreciate what we have and enjoy whatever remaining ABs he has in a Twins uniform. To me, Eddie is a gamer and a winner and a guy I want on my roster and in the lineup, regardless of the advanced stats. That being said, I can't defend not knowing the ground rules at Target Field and not hustling to finish the play (Detroit players kept hustling). Eddie is high risk/high reward type and Rocco is wise not to reign him in too much - you have to let guys like that play through things in their own way. Still, you can't argue with the umps while the runners keep going. As far as running through the stop sign, since he was out it was a terrible decision and the risk wasn't worth it. Even if he was safe, you have to ask why risk it. Eddie will always be a player who generates strong opinions one way or another due to his playing (sometimes reckless) style. I am a fan of Eddie's yet can understand while others are critical.
  13. This is such a Minnesota thread. I guess nearly 30 years of essentially no sustained playoff success by any of the 4 men's professional teams will really shell shock a fan base. I am right there with everyone, I just find the beaten down by losing attitudes fascinating.
  14. "Luis Arraez wasn’t going to match his numbers from last year, but they’ve dropped more than I would’ve expected." That's an interesting take as I saw preseason predictions of Arraez possibly flirting with hitting .400 in this short 60 game season. Of all you mention struggling, I see Arraez as the closest to getting where he was projected. Not sure what happened to Garver. His approach seems off, letting hittable strikes pass with no noticeable intent of swinging. It seems the league has figured out Garver and he needs to adjust accordingly.
  15. Thinking ahead to the postseason, I trust Romo with the season on the line and not Rogers.
  16. I'm of the save their service time in this 60 game season with 16 playoff teams. The Twins odds of reaching the playoffs is already at 96% per Fangraphs. The first round of the playoffs is 3 games, presumably with no fans in attendance so basically a total crapshoot.
  17. Avila at least looks like he has a puncher's chance at the plate. Maybe he should start to take ABs from Garver. It's tough to endure slumps in such a short season.
  18. Brutal week. The good news is the Twins are still in first place (just barely with Cleveland and Gardy's Tigers nipping at their heels) and it's a 16 game playoff. One barrel all year from Garver?
  19. Is there a rule that says you can't pitch a successful member of your bullpen if the score is tied or your team is behind yet within striking distance? Rocco is using his bullpen inside out, overusing guys with no sustained track record of success while Romo, Rogers, Duffy, and May gather dust. Maybe Rocco is saving the high leverage arms for the 16 team postseason grind?
  20. Are you joking or serious? I cannot tell. Masks are said to only protect the spread of the virus, and some debate their effectiveness. Most masks don't offer protection to the wearer. How does Fauci play into this? I can't tell if you are goofing around. The Saints said their plan was approved by the Department of Health.
  21. Not to mention, Target Field is outside. The detail about the Saints reopening that excited me was no mask needed if you are in your seat.
  22. I cannot worry about this now. Maybe yes, maybe no, only time will tell.
  23. It's part of the magic of baseball - getting a foul ball or a home run ball. I guess even if it's a stadium with no fans.
  24. Looking at Bullpen Usage Spreadsheet, I noticed neither Romo or Rogers pitched against the White Sox? I guess it is true that I don't recall seeing either one pitch this weekend. Still, it seems strange.
  25. It would have been nice for Sano to play on Sunday to shake off some rust. Monday is an off day for rest.
