  1. The game will be on NESN so I can watch from the comfort of my couch. And beer is only $7 for a six-pack rather than $10 for 12 ounces.
  2. Between 1903 and 1961, there only were 16 teams in major league baseball. So in that timeframe, every team won at least one World Series. Your example is very misleading.
  3. Is it possible that Alex Colome might be a realistic piece of the 2022 bullpen? Since July 1st, he has pitched 16 innings, given up 11 hits and 5 walks (only one in August) for a WHIP of 1.00. He has given up 4 earned runs (none in August) for an ERA of 2.25 and struck out 11. Of the 11 hits, only 5 were for extra bases and he's allowed no extra base hits since July 21. If he performs like this for the rest of 2021, I would think he might be a strong option to bring back.
  4. I would love to see Miranda and Palacios man the left side of the infield for the remainder of the season. Time for "early" spring training to begin.
  5. I think I prefer this alingment. Game are in a tighter group. Less travel, cuts costs, more money for ownership to spend on pitching! This is a fantasy exercise, isn't it?
  6. I would like to see them sign Dylan Bundy, Danny Duffy, and Yusei Kikuchi. And bring back Pineda. That would give the Twins five major league starters and allow the next wave to start in St. Paul and await their call up.
  7. I am pretty sure that I'm older than you and I am excited about the new acquisitions. I don't think our age is a factor. You seem to be a "glass half empty" (or more) kind of person, while I am more of a "glass half full" person.
  8. And just what is the market value for Berrios? No one knows yet because he doesn't reach free agency until after next season. If Berrios continues to pitch well, then the Twins can either make an offer or not. But when the big spenders (Dodgers, Padres, Mets, etc.) Make offers in the $30M AAV range, don't expect the Twins to join the bidding. That isn't financially possible.
  9. I've now completed a 180 degree reversal on Byron Buxton. I now think the he and the Twins will arrive at a mutually agreeable contract (part guaranteed and part incentives) after this season.
  10. What in the world makes you think that Berrios would sign a five-year, $75M contract? He and his agent are looking at a much bigger contract. And he has said quite clearly that he wants to test the free agent market. Trade him now for as much as you can and then go after him in 2022.
  11. Why make contact and possibly win the game when maximum exit velocity is the goal of nearly all Twins' batters???
  12. Did you mean replace either Crow-Armstrong or Bath with Matt Allen?
  13. If the Cardinals make a huge offer this weekend, it's too late. The trade deadline is Friday afternoon.
  14. Obviously I don't know any specifics about the Twins' offer. However, my question is: If Buxton wants to bet on himself (which has been mentioned many times at Twins Daily), the Twins should offer him a base salary of $10M a year and escalating performance incentives that could add as much as $20M more each year. If Buxton manages to play 150 games in a year, hit for a decent average, and continue his Gold Glove defense, he's worth $30M a year. If he continues playing less than half the team's games, then $10M might be a slight overpay. But that would be betting on yourself.
  15. Cave needs to get "injured" again soon so the Twins can bring up Contreras. A strong defender would be nice. I also think Donaldson should experience calf problems so Morales can be called up. There are plenty of 40-man slots that could be DFA'd.
  16. Can he be signed to a minor league contract since he was released? Making room on the 40-man roster may not be necessary.
  17. What if those minor leaguers are busting their asses, hustling on every play, and trying to win? Isn't that better than watching the current team go through the motions?
  18. Bring up everyone that has a remote chance of being on the Twins in 2022 to see what they can do. Put all the current players who are being substituted for that do not have any options left on the 60-day IL with some mysterious injury. There are more than two months of baseball yet to be played. Use it as an early spring training for next year.
  19. The Angels looked like little leaguers in the video.
  20. I will add one more comment. Why was Celestino still on second when the throw went to home, there was a collision and the catcher looks out cold and the ball is loose?
  21. Do league rules allow the Twins to begin negotiations for next season with Cruz right now???
