    Never said that or even thought that. I just said that I would prefer the farm teams be very good over having some prospects highly ranked by some "experts".

    Yes, platooning has been around a long time. You can't blame that on Baldelli's alleged over use of metrics. However, not in the third inning. It was either done in the starting lineup (heavy on right handed hitters against a left handed starter) or late in the game when the game is close. The point isn't "wrong." It's his opinion and your opinion is different. Just because you have different opinions, that is not a reason to tell someone that they just don't understand (as you did in a post so after).

    Has anyone considered that pinch hitting for Luplow was a "gut" decision? I'm not saying it was but it is a possibility.

    Exactly! Rankings are just fuel for debate. I would rather see St. Paul and Wichita win their leagues' titles by large margins every year.

    Unfortunately for fans, baseball is a business. Most people would like Polo back in 2024 but financially he needs to be willing to renegotiate his contract and get paid around $5M/year for two years or he ges released. The Twins should be happy with a two-year deal at that price because he might be an attractive trade asset at that price.

    If those five you mention are as bad as people are saying, who (in their right mind) is going to give up an "average veteran reliever" for one of them?

    I like the Buxton at 1B idea with one caveat. Will his knees hold up if he's at 1B? I have two bad knees (both to be replaced over the next year) and the discomfort is greatest when I pivot. Think of getting out of a car. If you are the driver, you put your left foot flat on the ground perpendicular to the car and twist your body to get out. This type of movement causes me a lot of discomfort (and sometimes sharp pain). Now think about playing 1B. On any ground ball or low line drive, the first step is either pivoting towards the ball or towards 1B. Either one would be painful to me. Or holding a runner on, you either twist to make a tag on a pickoff move or twist to get into fielding position. Either one would make me grimace. I'm just not sure that 1B is as pain free as you would imagine if it's your knees that are your concern. Submitted in pain, Terrydactyls.

    "Mike Paredes struck out eight in four two-hit innings." Did you intend to say that he pitched four innings and gave up two hits in each inning (a total of eight hits)? Or did you mean to say he gave up only two hits in the four innings he pitched?

    Yes. Four balls is a walk in both the major and minor leagues.

    Jair Carmargo hits a pop up but he still put his head down and ran hard toward 1st base. Good to see hustle. And then the Keystone Cops showed up and hilarity ensued. Speaking of hustle, E-Rod has some wheels. He covered a lot of ground to catch that ball. I hope the collision was more knocking the wind out of him than a physical injury.

    So he is performing above replacement level? Sounds like he's being paid about the right amount.

    You sure read a lot into his comment that I think isn't there.

    You stated that Martin would "probably get on base more than Castro" and that "this lineup needs hitters who can generate runs". But finish with saying you "don't think Martin will help accomplish that goal." Sounds like you're contradicting yourself.

    Nonsense. The minors are a training ground for the majors. Minor League players play wherever the major league administrators need them to play. Winning is secondary.

    Dameury Pena won't be 18 for another couple weeks. But he is leading the DSL Twins in almost every hitting statistic except HR (the slacker). Might be someone to keep an eye on.

    Exactly! Not too much was expected when they were signed but both are performing above expectations.

    How can Julien play "so deep"? He has to stay in the dirt portion of the infield just like every one else. He may be a foot or two deeper than a few, but hardly significant.

    His three chance were 260 AB in 2021, 160 in 2022, and 162 this year. And many of those AB were pinch hitting. I wouldn't consider any of them "extended". This year, he has the same number of RBI as Gallo in about 80 fewer AB, his average is 40 points higher, and he strikes out at a 40% rate versus Gallo's 50%. Play him now to see what he can do. If Gallo is league average, Larnach If he plays well, he's either a value to the Twins or an asset trade. If not, send him packing. I think he would be of value to the Twins. Plus, anyone with a middle name John-Ikaiakola should be in the majors.

    So he's below average in OPS, is hitting.179, has 17 HR but only 32 RBI, and strikes out in just over 50% of his at bats but plays half his games in Target Field, so he is considered league average? When you strike out in over half your at bats, what difference does the field your playing in make?
