  1. Jed Lowrie or Daniel Murphy would have been the player I would have rather seen them sign. I can also say I would have rather waited for another team to pick up a 2b first. Hate to think it's another classic Twins overpay. Just because he was projected to make $10M doesn't mean you need to pay him close to that. My guess is that Dozier will sign for $4M.
  2. Quick question, I see Santana is a switch hitter but what side is his dominate side? If he's another guy whose better side is batting right we got that covered. It would be nice if he brought a veteran presence to this team.
  3. Why do you think SF is looking to deal Mad Bum? Last year of very team friendly deal and by the way he has a TON of innings on that arm. It seems like SF knows it's now or never to try to cash him in before he gets hurt.
  4. So you want to sign Machado? Ready for that 10 year commitment to a guy who doesn't hustle or seem to care? Not a smart signing with all his baggage and no veteran presence on the roster to keep him in check. Also, you want your young upcoming talent to look up and see Machado not caring or putting 100% into his game. NO.
  5. I was just going to say this. Launch angle and all these new metrics are garbage. They may be fine for power hitters but not for everyone. A little more patience at the plate and hitting the ball where it's pitched to would help. The biggest thing that has killed me lately that the "professional hitters" can't beat a shift. A half swing for a lefty where the 3rd basemen is supposed to play is an easy double.
  6. Just think of the deals the Twins could have done if they traded Buxton when he was #1 prospect in the game. Now look what we have, an injury prone outfielder that spends more time on DL than playing. Same could be said about Gordon. One of the Twins top prospects and top 25-40 in the game and now where would you place him? Prospects should be used to acquire proven talent if you are a contending team. A prospect has maybe a 10-15% chance to succeed.
  7. Why would we compare the 2 of them? Just because they both played last in Tampa? Morrison basically had no Spring Training and may have been hiding an injury all season until they shut him down.
  8. I just feel they need more lefty bats besides Kepler, Cave, & Rosario.
  9. SO what does this mean for Tyler Austin? Both being righthanded so there is no platoon to be had there. Granted you can use one as DH and other at 1st of course. I would have preferred maybe signing Matt Adams so you could have a lefty option to split time with Austin.
  10. They also have plenty of AAAA pitchers on the 40 man that could sent through waivers down the road.
  11. Our FO didn't draft him. It's simple for them to pass on most of these guys because of this. It will be interesting to see what happens when the players they drafted are needed to be protected.
  12. Reed would have been fine if he was not over used so much early in the season.
  13. I hate to say it, the story seems to have changed from what was earlier reported. Funny how things work out.
  14. This may come back and hurt the Twins BIG TIME if Buxton can find his stroke & stay healthy going forward. Those are 2 big things to ask for sure. Is it worth it to gain another year of service time? My answer would be no. Gaining 1 extra year of service time gains you absolutely nothing in the long run. Back to my earlier points that if he rebounds and stays healthy his agent may not entertain the thought of a long term deal. Then it's just a waiting game for him to become a free agent and leave. On paper this seems like a smart move. Sadly, everyone comes out of this a loser.
  15. This seems to be one of those cases where he will be given a couple of starts and if he fails big time DFA. At least they are giving him a shot. It's up to him now.
  16. A manager. I prefer to think outside the box.
  17. LA can't take on salary without moving another. Luxury tax issues.
  18. The real reason that Sano was sent there is because they have the highest ticket prices of all the Twins minor league teams. Purely a joke. But knowing the Twins you never know.
  19. If it means your players are doing great and getting promoted I hope most of our minor league teams suffer badly this year.
  20. Polanco's suspension would be half over if not for all the cancelled games.
  21. How old would a player be if he played his full college career? 22 or 23 depending on how old he was when he graduated high school. No reason why he can't become a major league pitcher. It took Jake Arrieta until he turned 28 to figure it out. Whether that was due to a pitching coach or that he finally matured at what turns out to be a late age. No one knows.
  22. So what does this all mean if he would make the majors in 2-3 years when he still has the military commitment?

    Kerrigan?

    Thought this was about Nancy.
  24. By the way, make sure to bring a shovel. They will call it a team building exercise. Then they will ask you to come back at a later date. Rinse, Repeat.
