  1. Good luck getting them to drop 12 games. Players would not want to lose money and the owners surely would not want to lose any revenue as well. I completely agree a shorter season would be a major improvement. They also need to go back to the old baseballs as well. Whatever they changed is not good for the game.
  2. Relief pitchers don't matter if you can't get them a lead and starters to keep them in check. I would rather see Perez moved to the pen and add a starter or 2 as well as another RP.
  3. They also have no issues adding to the payroll ever. Frazier is MLB ready and would be moved in a major deal. No reason to give up any top 5 prospects on any rental.
  4. This does not look good when all you seem to hear is that the Twins are linked to the very high end player that the Yankees are also linked to. Not a good idea to get into a bidding war with them. This could be the Twins way. Chase the high end player that you have no intention in inquiring to make it look good for your fans and fall short and end up with a couple of lower rate players. But honestly the Twins would need to almost gut the system to land the players needed and we still would still be behind Houston & NYY.
  5. Seems you can always find cheap replacements at both positions. Cron scares me on defense. Seems he messes up so many easy catches.
  6. Maybe he needs to try from the other side of the plate. He might have been a lefty and didn't know it...
  7. I was curious if they could do that. Just because he signed a minor league deal doesn't mean he has to report there? That's a good thing.
  8. How can Wes Johnson do this while he is in the minors?
  9. I think he is just not used to pitching this much. They should take advantage of the 10 day IL and make up a lame injury to give these guys a break. Berrios might also benefit from a little time off as well.
  10. It's great that the Twins are off to such a great start. Very weak schedule and the bullpen will continue to be a weak spot going further. I just don't want this to be like the Gardy teams that won the division and then were 1 and done in the playoffs. Plenty of time to figure it out. Maybe Pineda could turn into an even greater arm out of the pen. Bring that heat for an inning or 2 every couple of days.
  11. I'm so happy that Smeltzer got the call to the majors. He is such a good story for all that he has gone though as well as what he has already given back to help those less fortunate. I wish there were more caring people like him in the world.
  12. Few other things against Madbum, i would expect most of his starts this year are not against teams with a DH and he would be happy on a contender to try to turn it into a huge contract this offseason but being here would limit him being able to hit.

    Bullpen Options

I would also say pass on Kimbrel since he will be demanding a multi year deal.
  14. This could be done for nearly every team. I went through the rest of the draft results and of course there were a few big names picked after our pick.
  15. Red Sox don't want to pay the extremely high luxury tax for him.
  16. Reach out to Bud Norris & Jim Johnson. Both still unsigned and both have the ability to close if needed.
  17. It was so frustrating seeing them pass on so many bargains out there that could have been helpful. Bud Norris, Brad Branch, Greg Holland, Tony Sipp, Nick Vincent, Hunter Strickland, & Brad Boxberger, I only chose RP's that signed for less than $5M. I would hate to see them actually spend money to win a division that nobody wants to win if you look at what Cleveland has done this off season.
  18. He would be claimed and then the claiming team would try to sneak him through waivers. He would get claimed again and be on like 4 teams in less than a week.
  19. Does that mean the Twins will be releasing him soon and a team with a better pitching coach will take him to another level,
  20. Tell that to Kris Bryant & if he was not hurt Vlad Guerrero Jr. teams will always take advantage of the system. While you are at it ask Byron Buxton where he was last September?
  21. It makes sense to option him out of the major league camp. He goes on a tear and then you look bad when you tell him he doesn't make the club. And what's the point of bringing him up and start his service time clock being a 4th outfielder?
  22. No need to overspend on him. The Twins never should have signed Perez to a major league contract and guarantee him $5M for a year. Gio Gonzalez is the pitcher that would have made more sense if they wanted to add a starter.
  23. Is Buxton the 4th outfielder?
  24. It just shows that pitching coaches are the most overlooked people in the success of most players. Look what Pittsburgh seems to do almost every year. They bring in a guy and figure out what others seem to have missed and they become better pitchers. Keep your Harper's and Machado's of the world, get us an actual pitching coach that can polish these turds into diamonds. The real question, how long are these contracts on pitching coaches and why don't we see teams trying to poach them from successful teams? You see if almost every year in NFL when offensive or defensive coordinators become head coaches.
  25. Just another time where the Twins are being "used" by agents claiming that they may get involved to drive up the price. I would still need to see more improvement in the rotation and bullpen before I think it would be wise to make a push for a player like Kimbrell.
