  1. No need to put any players on the DL this time of year unless they are being placed on 60 day DL to free up a 40 man spot.
  2. A demotion to the minors is an easy way to light a fire under a slumping player. If he doesn't bounce back you at least gave him time to work out the kinks.
  3. I think this is the case for every team in the league. People rate their minor league talent way higher than what they are. Take the Twins since they are our team. Of all the players that need to be protected, how many would actually be able to stay on an active roster all season? I guess the gray area would be if a team goes crazy like San Diego and has 3 rule 5 players on their team again.
  4. It's a light hitting outfield with Rosario as well. Maybe they could turn back the clock and become the piranhas again, minus Nick Punto. Also, what happened to the organizational depth in the outfield? No help at all in AAA and just LaMonte Wade in AA.
  5. Flip Garcia ASAP! Don't wait for the deadline. If you wait until the deadline other SP could be dealt that are better than Garcia. If the Twins wait for the deadline they will be making a mistake. Also, get rid of Eddie Rosario while he is hitting well. He does have a good arm but doesn't hit the cutoff man when he should. Has still not figured out how to draw a walk (18 this year). If Buxton comes back healthy & can hit I would rather see a Buxton, Kepler, & Granite outfield. This could also be a way to bring up Mitch Garver to be a sort of super utility playing many positions.
  6. Not sure why people are so insanely high on Mitch Garver. Many hitters can rake in the minors but have a very hard time making the jump to the majors. He could turn out to be great or he could be just the same as Buxton when he came up.
  7. 6. Garcia is a free agent at the end of the season...
  8. Am I the only one here waiting for a mystery team to come in "steal away" Jaimie Garcia from the Twins? I feel we can do better than him. He still has an ERA over 5 in the last 30 days. Don't be fooled by a couple starts. He is nothing special that will push the Twins to the top of the AL Central.
  9. Thank you Braves GM for not accepting Nick Burdi as part of the trade. I would rather wait for Burdi to recover from Tommy John than have Jaimie Garcia for what 12 starts or less? Talk to the Padres for one of their starters and keep Burdi out of any talks. We need to keep our power arms. Especially for a rental player.
  10. This is the Twins are about to trade Dozier to the Dodgers summer addition for your amusement...
  11. Who will be the DFA victim if it's a player not on the 40 man roster? So many choices that could get released not sure where to start.
  12. Nice work writing it up. Sadly the only trade that would benefit the Twins is the Neshek deal and Philadelphia wil get way more than that for him with relief pitchers always being a premium at the deadline.

    Mauers New Contract

Joe Mauer's next contract will be to become part of the Twins ground crew. Hopefully for Joe that they offer paid time off for his September illnesses that he seems to get lately...
  14. It just means Dozier will be gone when his contract ends and he leaves as a free agent.
  15. If not for Dusty Baker destroying Mark Prior & Kerry Wood's arms/careers the Cube would have won a World Series building around those 2 aces. Joe Mauer was a good pick but if the Twins drafted Mark Prior they would have not rushed him & never would have let him throw so much.
  16. With Boras as his agent how does any team pull off getting a discount? Kind of disappointed that they didn't choose Brendan McKay and make him into 1st basemen of the future.
  17. The best case scenario for the Twins is to take Wright or McKay. If you have looked at some of the mock drafts lately it would be smart for the Twins to sign McKay if he is willing to take a huge discount from the max value offered for the #1 pick. That way the Twins could have more money for their other picks and could come out smelling like a rose in the end.
  18. I hope the Twins make the "right" decision and take Kyle Wright.. Not a fan of taking a high school pitcher who relies heavily on his great fastball. If he doesn't have a 2nd or 3rd plus pitch you never know if he could develop one. The Twins need to be smart and pass on Greene. As for Brendan McKay I would feel the Twins would chose wrong on whether to be a pitcher or hitter.
  19. I was about to make a sort of similar post to this in a way. My question is what do the Twins have in the minors that could bring in a Sonny Gray type of pitcher? I would like to somehow put Eddie Rosario as part of any deal. Good defender with a strong arm but the plate discipline just drives me crazy.
  20. Just DFA him already. The team would be better off without him. Mauer doesn't bring any leadership to the team and you still pay him either way. It would just like ripping off a band aid. It might hurt for a second but you will feel better when he is gone.
  21. If they could save $1.5M+ it could be worth it to use that money to be able to overpay on a later pick. It would be nice if the Twins could pull something off like Houston did when they passed on Buxton to pick Carlos Correa & had extra money to pick up Lance McCullers Jr as well.
  22. Come someone please send the picture of Tommy Watkins keeping his eyes on the ball to Byron Buxton so he can remember how it works.
  23. No interest in any of those pitchers. All will demand a minimum of 5 years and you have to be careful of their ages near the end and the possible opt out in a contract. Let's just wait for 2018 offseason when Joe Mauer is finally off the books to think about spending money on an aging pitcher.
  24. This move doesn't do much for me in the least. I felt Pat Light had a huge upside but needed time to work out the kinks. I would not be shocked to see a team offer the Twins a player for Light if they want him and are not on top of waiver list.
