"He made two good trades bringing in power arms Alex Meyer and Trevor May to a depleted farm system." The real question is how the minor league system became so depleted with pitching prospects? The Twins should be trying to steal away some scouts who actually know what they are doing. That is where the Twins need to pump some of their money they refuse to use on a fielding an actual competitive team.

Race to Target Field: Byron Buxton vs. Miguel Sano

Technically Byron Buxton will play in Target Field before Miguel Sano. That would through the MLB Futures game. Sano should be in the 2013 game and Buxton in the 2014 game at Target Field. -
I guess I can make a play off your title. Of course the future is bright because the present is so dim with the hope that the Twins don't lose 100 games in 2013.

I don't think the Twins are a small market team. They have to be in the upper half by market size. They just want to act like a small market team and make their pockets fat with cash. The Twins should have waited until January and cherry pick the talent in the clearance bin. -
The Twins have money right now. Hopefully Morneau would want to come back in 2014. Please don't make any excuses for the Twins not spending money on good FA this season.

Ryan Pressly, Rule 5 pick from Boston not on the list? Either you forgot him or mlb.com is crazy rating him the 17th best prospect in the Twins organization. 44. Lester Oliveros Isn't he out for the season with Tommy John surgery? I would have liked to see Pat Dean and Dakota Watts a little higher also.

So Parmelee is a #2 hitter? Joe Benson should share CF with Mastroianni until Hicks has "earned" a promotion. No reason to start Hicks unless he is SO dominant in spring training. Why would the Twins actually rush a prospect? That would break all their little rules. Rajai Davis would be expendable from the Jays if the price was right.

You missed one pitcher who may be better than those you listed that the Twins should sign, Tom Gorzelanny. Jeff Karstens would be a decent signing to ease Kyle Gibson into the rotation.

Welcome back Fanatic Jack. The Twins are only making it harder on themselves by not adding at least one SP by now. The Jeremy Guthrie deal set the bar very high for the mid level SP on the market. Anibal Sanchez will probably be a $15M pitcher now. Good luck pinching pennies Terry Ryan...

I am wrong to say that I am pretty sure Hellickson is a Boras client? That pretty much defeats the purpose of trading for him unless you plan on dealing him after a couple of his arbitration years are through. -

Yes, An opening day starter for Rochester. He is not ready and no reason to rush him. Let him prove himself at AAA before being called up. -
Nishioka gave his salary back. The Twins save $3.25M. Now only if Joe Mauer does this for the last 2 years of his contract.

If MN didn't bring back basically the same rotation they have had for the last few years that never worked and signed QUALITY arms to replace them. 8. Matt Capps is not resigned. Jonathan Broxton is signed instead to a 2 YR deal. This list could go up to 15 or so....

Would you like your drug test now or later? There would almost be a better chance of Joe Mauer coming forward and saying that he is only worth $13M a season and would like to return $10M to the team to put towards a SP. Sano would have to included along with the other players along with a pitcher alot better than Laim Liam Hendriks... MN could never add another huge contract to the payroll. So the rotation would be King Felix, Diamond, and 3 flunkies? 1 pitcher no matter how great will never turn a team around by himself. -

If the Twins drafted Trout he would have just been "possibly" promoted to AA by this time. With the hope to be ready by early June 2014 for the majors. -
At least we know he won't need a cutoff man to turn a double play from 2B... Then we would not have to hear any more noodle arm comments again.

I would also skip his start before the deadline. They could pull him an hour or 2 before his start and pull a little lie saying they are close to a deal with unnamed team and when he is not traded they could just say they backed out of deal since the acquiring team balked at the additional player added to trade.
