  1. none of them are in the Twins price range for a trade.
  2. I forgot to add I think this is the last year he has any options left so I would not be surprised by a move at some point.
  3. He will end up on an east coast team and getting a hitting coach that can tap his potential and turn him into a monster DH. Sounds like history repeating itself with the Twins giving up on a hitter.
  4. Lost cause. Never had it, so you can't fix what never existed.
  5. If they actually sign Santana now is when you go forward and sign at least 1 more top tier player. Why not give up the 3rd round pick and add another player.
  6. SO you want to trade Pinto for a backup catcher? Kind of odd I would think you would rather move him in part of a deal to get a quality SP.
  7. Colby Rasmus is highly overpaid if you are willing to give him $12M. When I look at his numbers nothing besides the HR's which is not the huge of number stands out. I would not feel bad about Justin Masterson on a 1yr with a club option.
  8. Not gonna happen. For 2 simple reasons. The first is the Twins are too cheap to spend more than $2M for a manager. The second reason is why would he want to waste his time and talent to manage the Twins. Everyone should take a couple of steps back and hold off on the manager hiring and clean house on the upper end. The sad part is he might actually like the challenge to turn this club back into contenders but if course the Pohlad boys need that extra $3M more every year and don't care about winning. If you can pay $23M for a 1B that has no power and hopefully can at least get back to hitting .300 you can pay $5M for a man to turn this club around. Paul Molitor is not the answer.
  9. So Ervin Santana is all that would be added to try to turn this club around? And with the way prospects are held back this looks like the making of another 90+ loss team with not much chance for any success.
  10. Not to add on anything that was left out of the story, what about being shut down basically every year in September.
  11. Anderson is a horrible pitching coach and should have been fired so many years ago. Along with his protector Ron Gardenhire.
  12. In order to get actual talent back you need to offer something more than AAAA filler. Worley might bring back a decent player if the Twins think he has no chance to make the roster. You can't expect much if you don't include a lower level prospect in any deal.
  13. I think the Yankees are just saying this now so MLB will step in and stop a team from doing what that Cubs were smart enough to pull off last year. They are just upset that they didn't think of it first and think that if it is eliminated players will want to sign with the Yankees because they have a great history of paying high salaries.
  14. All the Twins need to do is say Mauer has the flu and that should be able to keep him out through Sept 20th at least.
  15. Well said, this could have been from last season when they cleaned house besides keeping Gardy and his BFF Rick Anderson. I would also love some new owners that care about putting a good product on the field instead of making $100M+ every year.
  16. Come on really? Hit a 100mph fast ball or Sabathia's Curveball. If you know heat is coming or a nasty curve almost any professional hitter can get the timing down and connect. Don't get me wrong Mr. Mauer is a great athlete, but he is not the greatest or will never make the top 100 of all time. If Mr. Mauer chose football over baseball his career would have ended after 3-4 with his durability. We should all be thankful that the Pohlad's are such great people to give him 35-40% of the payroll a year because he is such a great hometown player.
  17. I would highly doubt he would sign an 8 year deal. His agent would want some sort of opt out in the contract. Why would the Twins want to spend any money for an extension on a great prospect who "could" become a franchise type player. Actually why would Sano want to spend any more time in Minnesota than he has to since they don't care about winning, just making tons of money.
  18. What is the record for a starting pitcher? Being a starter has to make this a better feat for Albers.
  19. But how much is he worth when he no longer catches in a few years? He will not be a HOFer if he has to switch positions full time. Why don't you think Baltimore is being hesitant to give Matt Wieters an extension?
  20. I'm just happy that Scott Baker didn't resign with the Twins since he is now hurt.(what a shocker).
  21. I just think Hicks needs some time at Rochester and to also to delay the arbitration clock. It kind of reminds me how the Twins screwed up Carlos Gomez by bringing him up to early instead of helping his development. Also, when Santana was traded the Twins seemed like they needed to have a piece of the trade in the majors to make them look like they got a good trade. So by dealing Span & Revere they probably feel forced to start Hicks to show fans they knew what they were doing by making both trades.
  22. Or are you saying since he hit 3 HR's today he is a lock to be the next Mike Trout. One last thing anybody remember that great spring training Nick Blackburn had? hmmmnn
  23. It would not be a terrible mistake too start Hicks in Rochester. The terrible mistake should refer to the Twins secret little plan that they started cooking once they got Target Field and have slowly slashed payroll every year and want you to believe they care about winning more than making extra money... Teams should not be clearing near $100M after expenses and put out a crappy team that is expected to be the 3rd worst team in MLB in 2013.
  24. He sounds pretty impressive. I can't wait until 2018 when he gets a September call up to show everyone how good he has become.
