  1. So Ervin Santana is all that would be added to try to turn this club around? And with the way prospects are held back this looks like the making of another 90+ loss team with not much chance for any success.
  2. Not to add on anything that was left out of the story, what about being shut down basically every year in September.
  3. Anderson is a horrible pitching coach and should have been fired so many years ago. Along with his protector Ron Gardenhire.
  4. In order to get actual talent back you need to offer something more than AAAA filler. Worley might bring back a decent player if the Twins think he has no chance to make the roster. You can't expect much if you don't include a lower level prospect in any deal.
  5. I think the Yankees are just saying this now so MLB will step in and stop a team from doing what that Cubs were smart enough to pull off last year. They are just upset that they didn't think of it first and think that if it is eliminated players will want to sign with the Yankees because they have a great history of paying high salaries.
  6. All the Twins need to do is say Mauer has the flu and that should be able to keep him out through Sept 20th at least.
  7. Well said, this could have been from last season when they cleaned house besides keeping Gardy and his BFF Rick Anderson. I would also love some new owners that care about putting a good product on the field instead of making $100M+ every year.
  8. Come on really? Hit a 100mph fast ball or Sabathia's Curveball. If you know heat is coming or a nasty curve almost any professional hitter can get the timing down and connect. Don't get me wrong Mr. Mauer is a great athlete, but he is not the greatest or will never make the top 100 of all time. If Mr. Mauer chose football over baseball his career would have ended after 3-4 with his durability. We should all be thankful that the Pohlad's are such great people to give him 35-40% of the payroll a year because he is such a great hometown player.
  9. I would highly doubt he would sign an 8 year deal. His agent would want some sort of opt out in the contract. Why would the Twins want to spend any money for an extension on a great prospect who "could" become a franchise type player. Actually why would Sano want to spend any more time in Minnesota than he has to since they don't care about winning, just making tons of money.
  10. What is the record for a starting pitcher? Being a starter has to make this a better feat for Albers.
  11. But how much is he worth when he no longer catches in a few years? He will not be a HOFer if he has to switch positions full time. Why don't you think Baltimore is being hesitant to give Matt Wieters an extension?
  12. I'm just happy that Scott Baker didn't resign with the Twins since he is now hurt.(what a shocker).
  13. I just think Hicks needs some time at Rochester and to also to delay the arbitration clock. It kind of reminds me how the Twins screwed up Carlos Gomez by bringing him up to early instead of helping his development. Also, when Santana was traded the Twins seemed like they needed to have a piece of the trade in the majors to make them look like they got a good trade. So by dealing Span & Revere they probably feel forced to start Hicks to show fans they knew what they were doing by making both trades.
  14. Or are you saying since he hit 3 HR's today he is a lock to be the next Mike Trout. One last thing anybody remember that great spring training Nick Blackburn had? hmmmnn
  15. It would not be a terrible mistake too start Hicks in Rochester. The terrible mistake should refer to the Twins secret little plan that they started cooking once they got Target Field and have slowly slashed payroll every year and want you to believe they care about winning more than making extra money... Teams should not be clearing near $100M after expenses and put out a crappy team that is expected to be the 3rd worst team in MLB in 2013.
  16. He sounds pretty impressive. I can't wait until 2018 when he gets a September call up to show everyone how good he has become.
  17. "He made two good trades bringing in power arms Alex Meyer and Trevor May to a depleted farm system." The real question is how the minor league system became so depleted with pitching prospects? The Twins should be trying to steal away some scouts who actually know what they are doing. That is where the Twins need to pump some of their money they refuse to use on a fielding an actual competitive team.
  18. Technically Byron Buxton will play in Target Field before Miguel Sano. That would through the MLB Futures game. Sano should be in the 2013 game and Buxton in the 2014 game at Target Field.
  19. I guess I can make a play off your title. Of course the future is bright because the present is so dim with the hope that the Twins don't lose 100 games in 2013.
  20. I don't think the Twins are a small market team. They have to be in the upper half by market size. They just want to act like a small market team and make their pockets fat with cash. The Twins should have waited until January and cherry pick the talent in the clearance bin.
  21. The Twins have money right now. Hopefully Morneau would want to come back in 2014. Please don't make any excuses for the Twins not spending money on good FA this season.
  22. Why not Kelly Johnson at 2B instead of Freddy Sanchez? And Brett Myers over both SP.
  23. Ryan Pressly, Rule 5 pick from Boston not on the list? Either you forgot him or mlb.com is crazy rating him the 17th best prospect in the Twins organization. 44. Lester Oliveros Isn't he out for the season with Tommy John surgery? I would have liked to see Pat Dean and Dakota Watts a little higher also.
  24. So Parmelee is a #2 hitter? Joe Benson should share CF with Mastroianni until Hicks has "earned" a promotion. No reason to start Hicks unless he is SO dominant in spring training. Why would the Twins actually rush a prospect? That would break all their little rules. Rajai Davis would be expendable from the Jays if the price was right.
