  1. I meant the Tigers lose 8 (not 6, typo) as they would both lose an additional 4 against us and the Indians...
  2. If you classify MLB by Upper (teams with > than 3 games above .500), Mid (those at least <=3 + or - .500), and Lower (teams > than 3 games below .500) you can compare the following through the Twins first 60 and Tigers first 58 games: Winning % Twins Tigers Upper = .429 .385 Mid = .448 .576 Lower = .700 .750 % of games played Twins Tigers Upper = 35% 22% Mid= 48% 57% Lower= 17% 21% Of course the discrepancy is largely due to fact that the Tigers are in an Upper class themselves. If you calc out rest of season based on winning % thus far this season within each category, the Twins end up 79-83 and the Tigers 93-69. HOWEVER, if you look at just the Indians and Twins winning % against the Tigers thus far and apply those winning percentages to the remaining 28 games the Tigers must play against both us and Tito’s group, the Tigers lose 6 games (down to 85-77) and we pick up 4 (up to 83-79). This makes the rest of season incredibly interesting assuming we continue to play at pace we have so far…
  3. It is always fun to check in with how our former players are performing. It seems like ex twins are found in bunches. Rockies have Cuddy back after being down with injury and is seeing ball well. Hawkins looks gassed after great start as tgeir closer and of course Mourneau is tearing the ball and not just at home. With Milwaukee Gomez is off pace from torrid stretch last year but still putting up numbers to envy any of our of production. Both Lohse and Garza have helped propel the crew to their fast start. Too early to tell but Nolasco
  4. One possible outcome of the come to jesus meeting with Pelfrey (as mentioned) might be to eat the salary since he sounds against both bullpen and demotion options. Frankly, I am all for it a) because it is not my money at least Nishi had the class to forego his last year of guaranteed money which the brass could apply to this contract mistake and c) how much would it cost to bring back Scott Baker?? Surely his AAA numbers bode well for AT THE MINIMUM an improvement over what Pelf has given us. A heavily incentived 1 year deal with option for another should do it. Didn't his agent just contact the Twins who basically said 'no interest'...we have the worst starting rotation in baseball (again) and we passed up an opportunity to get a rebounding veteran on the cheap. I simply do not get it.
  5. sad but true...jeez, 2e's and one out...
  6. Hughes seems to be deliberately working the curve and it seems to be effective. I hope this effort to focus more on this rather than the slider to complement his fb plus (any/some?) effect of TF turns his career around. Would be fun to see him establish himself as a solid #3.
  7. thx JB. I'm with you on the ides of march sports fun- and even better, my kid's baseball team will finally be going outside for practice soon games to follow shortly...nice hit & run!
  8. hi all- birthday, twins on mlb network, game thread started, 1st batter easy ground out, what could be better?
  9. K rate feels alot like last year
  10. Anyone know twins 2013 total k's/pa & bb/pa vs. Opponents? Be curious to know. Feels like similar pattern through first 3 games. Especially concerning are the k's looking. .m
  11. dang- sent early. They question I have is what would the Mariners want in return? The boards indicate OF is a need. Unfortunately Hicks 2013 negates much trade value. What about pitching plouffe (corner OF) with a B prospect pitcher?
  12. I agree completely. It saddens me that they didn't like the $$ for Arruebarruena, won't like the $$ for Diaz- I know I do not know the scouts evaluations of either, but SS is such a long term need. I know with the draft pick loss Drew ain't happening. I would rather have a power arm taken in the upcoming draft than a hope that Trae Turner falls to 5 AND works out. This means they need to trade for one at some point. I'd argue time is nonw.
  13. Ba lists chris taylor ss in top 10 and guesses mlb ready by late 2014. Above avg fielder hit .312 in aa and is definitely blocked
  14. Seems like they could use a stop gap in rotation after first 2 days of camp 2 starters down/iffy. Do they have a ss prospect that would match in a trade for one of worley/gibson/deduno or maybe one of our 4 lh aaaa ceiling Guys?
