Squirrel Community Moderator Posted March 15, 2014 Posted March 15, 2014 It's another gorgeous day in SW Florida. Got in two hours of tennis this morning, will watch the game (from home here), then head to the beach after the crowds have had enough. Yes, life is good for now. Here are the lineups: TWINSBartlett, 2BHicks, CFPlouffe, 3BArcia, DHColabello, 1BParmelee, RFMastroianni, LFFryer, CSantana, SSSP, Diamond METSden Dekker, RFMurphy, 2BYoung, CFSatin, 3BClark, 1BRecker, DHTeagarden, CBurgamy, LFReynolds, SSSP, Gee Batter up!
Squirrel Community Moderator Posted March 15, 2014 Author Posted March 15, 2014 Getting some hits but not getting them home. Diamond gave up a solo shot in the bottom of the 1st. We'll see what he does this inning.
Squirrel Community Moderator Posted March 15, 2014 Author Posted March 15, 2014 Diamond got 2 SOs, then gave up a walk but the runner was caught stealing. Not a bad inning.
Squirrel Community Moderator Posted March 15, 2014 Author Posted March 15, 2014 Bartlett #sodoneYeah, don't see it happening for him. Kubel, too, for that matter. But we'll see. I've been surprised plenty by these decisions.
cmathewson Provisional Member Posted March 15, 2014 Posted March 15, 2014 I've counted nine balls in the dirt from Diamond today. Fryer has yet to pick one of them. Several have gotten through him. It's ugly out there.

PseudoSABR Verified Member Posted March 15, 2014 Posted March 15, 2014 Diamond with 6 Ks and 3 BBs in four innings? What was that all about?
jokin Old-Timey Member Posted March 15, 2014 Posted March 15, 2014 Diamond with 6 Ks and 3 BBs in four innings? What was that all about? Is he experimenting with a new pitch? or refining an existing one? No help from the broadcast team.
Jim Crikket Provisional Member Posted March 15, 2014 Posted March 15, 2014 OK the red jerseys are starting to grow on me. Not sure if that's good, bad, or just reflective of the fact that I've had a few beers while watching this game. Oh... and Eduardo Escobar just had a nice 2 run single to close the deficit to 3-2 in the 8th.
Jim Crikket Provisional Member Posted March 15, 2014 Posted March 15, 2014 annnnnnnnnnnd Mitchell ties it up with an RBI single. 3 runs in the 8th on a couple walks and a couple hits off Black.
Squirrel Community Moderator Posted March 15, 2014 Author Posted March 15, 2014 Lol and after saying I liked the red jerseys I'm now rethinking it. I don't like the blue patches under the arms. It's like a big symbolic sweat marks

B team swinging at a lot of pitches in the dirt. He did not locate the fastball at all, hence the three walks. Watching on TV in NY.
Squirrel Community Moderator Posted March 15, 2014 Author Posted March 15, 2014 Wow. Quick reaction by Johnson. That would've hurt

Thanks alot! The local broadcast team expressed concern about Diamond's control, but little context for the reasons why. With respect to that #5 spot, Gladden thought that Deduno would be excellent in a relief role and didn't want to count out Gibson (or Diamond) yet, but thought it would be completely absurd to bring up 13 pitchers to save a pitcher from DFA- over simply bringing up the best 25 players. (He also thought that Colabello was practically a lock to make the 25-man).
cmathewson Provisional Member Posted March 15, 2014 Posted March 15, 2014 Johnson looks much better than Diamond. Locating his fastball, with some life on it. Good breaking ball.

It's like a big symbolic sweat marks I agree. Several years ago, they started doing the underarm panels in contrasting color on most BP jerseys. I've never liked the look.
Riverbrian Old-Timey Member Posted March 15, 2014 Posted March 15, 2014 Missed the game but I did look over the highlights on MLB.com I'm liking what I'm seeing from Colabello defensively at 1B. As as for the Red Jerseys... They haven't grown on me yet. Bring back the Robins Egg Blue!!!
