  1. Fifteen of Fangraphs top twenty free agent starting pitchers are signed, plus a few others. Two were brought back to Minnesota. They have not acquired any of the other top twenty.... Is anyone excited about the remaining guys at this point?
  2. Are you saying you would not trade Lewis for the number 1 pitching prospect in the minors?
  3. It is a numbers game, and I feel a lot better about this list than at any time in recent Twins' history. But I hope the rotation isn't Berrios, Pineda, and three of those guys in 2021.......
  4. I share those, but I'm not sure I have a better, realistic, option at this point....
  5. You might want to read his later response and note the sarcasm part.....
  6. You don't think the MLB ERA leader is a good pitcher? I mean, you can think he's not elite, but you think the ERA leader is not good?
  7. There is no evidence Cleveland is selling out. They traded a guy that didn't play last year for a relief pitcher they love now. And cleared money. As for the article, what should fans want, if not for the team to succeed at adding talent? Fandom is not rational, but once you are a fan, shouldn't you be upset if your team fails to add great players using one of the avenues to do so? If there are barriers to people coming to Minnesota, it's leadership's job to create a team and culture that overcomes those barriers. Just like UHG, Target and other Minnesota companies do who still attract top talent.
  8. I'm not going to dig thru posts, and the main point is..... None of these guys are as likely to be a major league pitcher as an existing major league pitcher, so they need to add at least one more pitcher. And next year they lose Odorrizi..... So they'll be in this position again. And Pineda the next year. They have one major league pitcher under control for more than two years.....
  9. Quite a few posters here. Saying that signing these free agents is a bad idea, and we should trust the FO to develop these guys.
  10. Putting aside if they were projected aces or not.... They were projected major league regulars.... Which is helping the Twins this year? To me, this is a cautionary tale for those that are confident that the Twins can stand still on pitching this year, or even next.
  11. I sort of worked with the CEO of Anthem, and reported to one of her CIOs. She's a great leader, who is remaking Anthem in UHGs image. I own too much healthcare stock..... But some of you may not.....
  12. I have, over and over, and you've said no to each. Hence, what would you do?
  13. There's nothing "willy nilly", and insulting me isn't helpful. I've been reading about Gore since before he was drafted, and since. Nothing desperate about trading for the number 1 pitching prospect in the game....nothing at all. How do we know that keeping Lewis isn't the mistake? Again, what is your alternative? You say no to pretty much every idea, what is your idea.
  14. I have no idea if they made a mistake or not, but I'd trade Lewis for Gore without hesitation.
  15. I'll ask again, what should they do this off season?
  16. I agree. If you won't sign the best free agents, you need to draft pitchers early. This team doesn't do that. They also have yet to trade for a big time pitcher. So, what should they do this year, with this team?
  17. They are thirty million under, and lose Cruz, Odorrizi, and likely Rosario next year. If they added twenty or twenty five million, who couldn't they sign to an extension? They aren't signing Garver, he's a few years away and a catcher. That leaves Sano, Berrios and Buxton to sign in the next three years.....
  18. odo was not a free agent...but he did decide to stay for $17MM. I think he regrets that, given the market.... (not that he regrets staying here, but it looks like he'd have gotten PAID).
  19. Progress isn't linear. Berrios was a legit number 2 last year, I have no idea what you want/expect from him. With a tiny bit of improvement, he'd be one of the 10 best starters in baseball. That said, those stats look pretty consistent, so we just might have to settle for 4.x fWAR a year from him, and him being one of the 20 or so best pitchers in the game......../s
  20. I was trying to think of how a trade like this would work. Year three is the bummer year of the deal..... Twins could send Eddie to someone else, that team sends a prospect to Boston (not a highly ranked one) and MN gets Price. MN adds a lot to the budget, Boston cuts a lot and gets a 40 FV prospect or so, and another team gets Eddie. If Price makes 20 or so starts a year and is good, that's a good trade. Big if.
  21. And Martin Perez might not have a major league job. It cuts both ways.
  22. No, but the Twins decided to sign Pineda.......and he comes with that baggage. IF they are willing to cut bait in spring training, I'm fine with this idea. I'm not fine with it if they stick with them to start the year, and they look anything like they did last year.
  23. but they could be worse, and in the meantime, you've likely given them all of Pineda's missed starts. You might miss out on giving a chance to a guy that turns out to be good right now, at no money...... Like Arraez last year, one of those guys might surprise us and turn out to be ready right away.....
