  1. You only have to read a few posts up to see he gets little credit for the last two years....somehow. Really, all I see on this board is that the players won the last two years, despite Rocco, so I don't know what you are reading.....
  2. Two great years don't count....but a few bad weeks do?
  3. Do we know number 1 is true non-publicly? Because most leaders say to handle that non-publicly. no, they aren't coddled. Hitting the other way is not good strategy. Not even a little (other than the 9th or later, and even then...) Why do you expect to hear about discipline, publicly?
  4. Didn't they win the division the last two years?
  5. 95% of the time? More like 99%, given fielding stats, higher, even.....but yes, I don't get that decision. I also did not like the pinch runner decision. I endorsed starting the 10th with Colome, but I didn't understand leaving him in after the 2 walks......but I can squint and understand it. But, really, they lost because they couldn't pitch or field simple plays, something not on the manager at all.
  6. 3 weeks of data to decide if you should bench Sano (who has proven to be a good, if not great, hitter)? What is 3 weeks going to really tell anyone? Kepler is a decent to good RF overall. Sano is a good to great hitter, he's likely too young to fall off the earth already. That leaves Kiriloff, Lanarch, Rooker to test among.....and it isn't any contest for who is the least likely to be good player, Rooker. So, call up either Kiriloff or Lanarch and put them in LF for the year unless they stink it up for 6 weeks or more.....
  7. So if Eddie was here, the relief pitchers would pitch better?
  8. Rocco can only put out the RPs he's given......and, Colome got two routine ground balls. He did his job (not well, but it should have been well enough).
  9. Just watched the video.....those were routine ground balls. I'm not sure it is fair to say Colome blew the second lead.....
  10. I don't think this is a manager problem. He didn't suddenly forget how to manage. The bullpen isn't good. The hitters aren't hitting. I'm not sure what to do about the second problem, other than promote Kiriloff, who might be a legit MLB player. Cave and Garlick are backups. As for the bullpen, no quick fix is available. This is the staff this FO built. That's on them, not the manager.
  11. There are no guarantees, but you don't judge decisions based on guarantees. Too soon? This article is about first impressions, nothing more or less. I don't get why we are judging the SPs as 38 year olds and 5th starters, rather than if they are good compared to the alternatives. They might be, but neither of those things are relevant.
  12. Ya. It's so hard to know what the rookies can do given last year..... But I was still surprised.
  13. I'd like to see him penciled in as the guy that starts the 5th or 6th inning for each start that Happ and Shoemaker make.....and plan for him to go 2-3 innings each time. Until they give up on one of those starters......It seemed an odd decision to bring them both in, but they did.
  14. I've never understood ripping an athlete for getting hurt for our entertainment. I also can't imagine there is one soft professional athlete on the planet. These men and women work their butts off for years.....hopefully he heals soon.
  15. So, don't offer them? I'm not sure your point. Calling it uneducated is what, exactly, compared to a positive one? Other than insulting?
  16. They didn't score runs..... how is that in management?
  17. Mindless? I didn't like the pick at the time. He was older and one dimensional. I also didn't say it was an epic sized mistake. It's almost like nuance is not a thing, and only extreme outcomes are......
  18. Drafting a lot of corner OFers.... and none are ready? The mistake here was drafting Rooker in the first place.
  19. I have no issue with you having a different opinion..... just putting words in my mouth.
  20. 31 at bats tells you nothing. It is a tiny sample size. They should base it on all the data they have, not 31 practice at bats. Nothing that has happened so far, not injury related, should change any plans they came into spring training with.
